Thank you, you've show it in a much simpler way than I did :rotfl::TA strong man stands up for himself, a stronger man stands up for others.0 -
Not if you're behind a NAT firewall, which the majority of people will be. All devices in my house have the same IP address as far as the rest of the internet is concerned.Plus IP address is likely to be consistent unless you deliberately drop the DHCP lease *and* pick up a new lease on a different IP.
As far as the fingerprint is concerned, different browsers will (probably) have different fingerprints, but it would be a big security risk if websites attempted to use fingerprints for user identification.0 -
If you were visiting some malicious site which was hell bent on identifying you no matter what then yes the IP address and information leaked by the browser can give a match but unless I'm mistaken this is about whether or not the MSE site user profile shows what site page is being visited when not signed in. The simple answer to that is that it doesn't as has already been shown in this thread.
The OP hasn't really spelled out exactly what has happened and why she thinks reporting it to the site abuse team will get anywhere. If somebody really is stalking her activity it isn't by means of hacking the MSE site it's either a keylogger or as simple as working it out from comments made or access to the laptop/PC browsing history either directly or through malware.0 -
So is there a outbreak of hacking housewives, or has the OP just got a bit of a screw loose?Hope over Fear. #VoteYes0

Post #18 clearly shows that despite being logged out, you can still see what page they are viewing. No hacking at all.0

No it clearly shows the opposite!
I was logged out in another browser, looking at my own profile
so the forum can only see what my logged in profile is doing, not what I was actually doing0 -
OP - changing the title and first post isn't helpful.0

I think the whole point is that despite thinking you are logged out, it is still possible, via the public profile, to see information that shows you are reading a certain page.
The crux of the OP's argument seems to be that this isn't the forum software at fault, it's some form of hacking done by other users.
Or am I misunderstanding something?0 -

yes you are
note the screenshot shows me not logged in on the page I am viewing,
it just happens to be my profile I am viewing.
My profile isnt showing the page I am viewing in that browser, but the logged in page from the other browser0 -
Thank you Custardy I appreciate the fact that you can see what I was trying to saySo is there a outbreak of hacking housewives, or has the OP just got a bit of a screw loose?
I must have, I mean who in their right mind would come onto a tech board to ask a tech question only to be called names.
Bonkers obviously.
My question has been answered, thank you to those who helped without name callingA strong man stands up for himself, a stronger man stands up for others.0
