No I didn't see that link in your reply. But that wasn't what I was speaking about anyway - I was addressing the problematic item you saw in Device Manager.
Why you would look on the VLC website for a driver package for the "Multimedia Audio Controller" is a mystery however - VideoLAN almost certainly didn't make that piece of hardware in your computer. That's why I said (in bold) the manufacturer of the "Multimedia Audio Controller".
Anyway, if you're happy this is resolved we can let this thread die.0 -
Just for the record, because I've had similar problems over the years, a corrupt audio driver can cause problems with a video file playing.0

OK, I see what you mean.
I have gone back to the “audio problem” in Device Manager and the manufacturer is unknown, so I have clicked on “Reinstall Driver”. It says: - “The wizard has finished installing the software for: C-Media AC97 Audio Device”, and that yellow ? has gone away, it also appears to have installed more “devices” as there was only 2 items before but now there are 8 items.Don`t steal - the Government doesn`t like the competition0 -

Yes but the problem got fixed before I reinstalled drivers for the audio "problem, so not the audio driver.
