What deals have you got with Virgin media?

I live in a shared house of 4 people and we have Virgin media (formally NTL). I rarely use the landline phone and we pay between £13-£16 a month each. We seem to have quite a few channels but I only really watch the music ones.
What I would really like is the Sports channels so I could watch the Premiership games mainly and also the different tennis tournaments. I do miss Sky Sports News since they stopped showing that.
Has anyone been able to get a decent deal with Virgin as an existing customer?
Need to persuade my flatmates but of course it all depends on price.
Just wondering what dfeals others have managed to secure before I give them a call.
Thanks in advance.:T

There are lots of threads on this forum on getting a good deal from Virgin Media, you should be able to get your current package reduced without much difficulty - you seem to be paying over the odds at the moment. However, I have tried a few times to get a good deal on sky sports but they will not budge, it is always about £22 on top of whatever deal they will offer without sky sports. Maybe what you will save by renegotiating your current package will pay for sky sports? We have currently cancelled it for the Summer, will try again in September but I don't expect much joy! Good luck!0

Thanks for that buyitall. I thought the price was ok as we are getting three services for that price. Shows how much I know!
I do tend to flick through the channels when I am bored and there are certainly enough to go through but would much rather have a few channels that I will watch rather than loads of channels that I don't.
Will you have to pay a reconnection fee as you have cancelled it?
An extra £22 is under £6 each split 4 ways. Hmm, may be able to convince them. I would certainly pay an extra £6 but will the others? That is the question!0 -
there is no need for this post considering the other posts about this that existA shadowy flight into the dangerous world of a man who does not exist.

I did have a look for other posts but I only saw posts about Sky and we can't put a dish up so need to stick to cable.
If you would like to be helpful and show me some of the posts then I would be most grateful.
Perhaps my post could be merged or something.0 -
Have you tried pricing it with sky online? We did this just before the take over and we were prepared to go to sky but would prefer to stay and they price matched what sky was offering but you need to convince them you are willing to walk they dont know you dont want a dish up. You dont mention if your broadband is included if so that is where you will save as sky is free, just price up th whole lot on sky site then take it to virgin. The more i save the more i can spend:rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:0

As long as you keep sky sports for a minimum of 30 days, you can cancel it whenever you want and get reconnected whenever you want (another 30 day minimum applies each time you reconnect). They do charge in advance each month but if you cancel mid-month a credit is applied to the following month's bill. We don't have it all the time - just for exciting parts of the Premiership and one-off events like the Lions Rugby tours that are only on sky.0

I didn't think it would be that simple to disconnect and reconnect Sky Sports like that.
How much do you pay for yours and what package do you have? Thanks.0 -
We have xl tv, 24/7 phone calls and 4mb broadband for £34.50 per month. Other people seem to get cheaper, but that's the best deal I've been offered (have never threatened to cancel, just rang up once and asked them if they could reduce price due to loss of sky1). Connecting & cancelling sky sports they can do on the spot, it's instantaneous - subject to initial 30 day minimum. No doubt others will say I'm paying far too much, but I'm happy with that price for the moment, I would like to get a good deal on a v+box though.0

That price is without Sky Sports though isn't it? I don't know how fast our broadband is or any of the finer details really.
£34.50 = £8.63 each as there are 4 of us which I think is more than reasonable for the 3 services.
The channel I used to watch the most is Sky Sports News:o and of course Virgin don't show that anymore so I do feel like I am missing out but I have got used to it now.0 -
we have V+ box, an additional box, broadband, phoneline, free calls evening and weekend and we pay £45 a month. We're happy with that!
