How do you know when the £5 vouchers are coming ?

Tends to be the last Thursday of the month, but this system goes out the window in December.

If you follow Aldi UK on facebook, they normally give a heads up. Some kind soul usually posts on the voucher and coupons forum of MSE as well, they often seem to know in advance what the mini vouchers will be (as well as the main £5 off £40 voucher, there are a dozen coupons for X% off specific items. These can be stacked and used with the £5 voucher, you just need to remember to hand over all vouchers BEFORE they start to scan your shopping).

  • Thanks for this pavlovs_dog, I am now following Ald* on fb. Will also remember to hand the voucher over Before :D

Sorry your struggling with your challenge, keep posting on here, it's a great demotivator!

Great tips there pavlovs_dog, I learnt the hard way to hand over the vouchers at the begining:mad: I've not done the £5 off a Aldi before so I'll be keeping a close eye out for the vouchers.

  • Hello All

Back at work and very pleased with myself :j:j everyone is moaning and groaning about the cost of christmas and the next credit card bill. I have none of these worries since taking control of my spending before christmas. I may even extend the spending freeze to 60 days when I get through 30. :rotfl::rotfl:

One person is even saying that they will not be checking their bank account for a few months as she doesnt want to know how much debt she is in..
Avoided going into town so no shopping is done, instead am talking to my fellow scrimpers. Did buy a jacket potato from the canteen but that was only £2.05

Crumpets - Happy New Year don't worry I am getting through it and it is easier the longer it goes on. If we pay £600 a month OP, we save over 17K in interest, that one hell of a motivator.:D

:oCONFESSION. If I take all my jewellery out the boxes it covers a kingsized bed with no spaces. I don't need to buy anything else. There is nothing expensive in there im afraid otherwise I would have sold it...:o

To the gym tonight not looking forward to it as haven't been for about 3 weeks. Have meals planned for the rest of the month just need to do the shopping list. Planning to use £25 Nectar points to help.

We be on here after, I have recovered from the gym.

    Happy days

But, then again, we as a nation seem rather shy about talking about finances in general. It's a bit gauche, apparently, to discuss salaries, income/ outgoings, even with our closest friends :( Far better to come on MSE and discuss it with a load of virtual likeminded friends! :D:D:D:D At least people on here can understand the excitement of a 6p TT!!:rotfl:;);)

I agree Greent it's much easier to tell strangers than close friends or family about finances . We haven't told anyone about our MFW ways, people just think we have no money as we're very frugal (but not tight!), especially my mil, she seems to think we're broke. We very rarely go out, don't smoke, don't drink much so this is our vice:D

LGP that is a lot of jewellery! Do you ever get to wear it all? And also where do you store it all?

  • Crumpets- I could wear some of it but to be honest I would give Mr T a run for his money.lol I don't tend to wear much, most days I only wear a pair of earrings and my wedding and eternity ring. But at the weekend I wear a bit more but not a lot. Its in those plastic click boxes but the hobby ones that have separate compartments. They come up to my waist.

Greent I like my virtual likeminded friends they understand and only offer encouragement. We can all get excited by our OP or NSD together. :D

I am a hoarder of cleaning products but I never thought of it as financial planning but as money tied up to be cleared.
It can be a bit of both. :) Say you mostly buy larger quantities in sales and get a saving of 20% for things you'll on average use in a year. That's perhaps 3% not saved on mortgage interest over a year but you're still up more than 17% of the amount spent.* Making 17% on your money is good going - better than you can reliably do routinely with investments!

*more than because if you spend 80% and save 20% your gain is 20% on 80%, not 20% on 100%.

Looking on the bright side of hoarding, it does help those NSD as there is always something to be used up!
Made it to mortgage free but what a muddle that became

In the event the proverbial hits the fan then co-habitees are better stashing their cash than being mortgage free !!
