  • The good life has been taking up time and i just got round to updating the forum. I have been lax sorry.

    Just a quick update.

We haven't stopped overpaying :T. We now stand at £43k:j

It was my 40th birthday last April and a good friend of mine tasked me a challenge of 40 new experiences in a year. I have used all my thrifty ways and have had a blast, lots of deals and cash back. My favourite was tank driving so far, we are going Axe throwing tomorrow. I am hoping it won't snow too much.

DH needed a new car, so we managed to use our savings to buy a second hand car.

I have been shopping a lot for yellow stickers, especially when Aldi open at 8am as its on the way to work and the items have 50% off and healthy food with cash back through apps. I have also been taking my dinner into work instead of the works expensive canteen.

Last month I set my self a challenge to clear the 2 freezers that we have, it was really successful and we are now trying to work through the cookery books and writing a list before going. We had got in a real rutt of buying the same things each week, especially toilet rolls and gravy when we didn't even need them.

Have got very into the spotify podcasts especially the Oprah Winfrey Soul Sunday, There are some really inspirational stories and it has helped me, gain perspective when negative emotions got busy in my head.

I am also shuffling around the pictures that we have into new spaces in the house and replacing photos with different ones. It make a world of difference to me, i feel like things have been refreshed.

We are giving lots to the charity shop in order to clear clutter from the house. Its work in progress but we will get there.

    Hi LGP, welcome back!!

Your mortgage total is amazing!! well done for carrying on all your MSE ways whilst not updating your diary. It's so easy to let things slip (as I am well aware :o)

Happy 40th for last year! I love the challenge! I might steal that for next year for me. It's actually my 39th birthday next year but it would certainly be a good way to finish off my 30s! Enjoy the axe throwing :T

Keep up the good work and keep updating us

Welcome back! Your 40 new experiences sound like fun, I might steal it for my 30th.

£43k is really good, not that long to go now. :)
