  • Hello lovely forumland

I have been rubbish at updating the diary but hubby and I have decided that 2016 is going to be a mortgage reducing year. Therefore I need to get on it.

Our mortgage currently stands at £68,000 would ideally like to be in the 50's by January next year.

So far we have negotiated the gas and electric with a £200 drop.
New phone contract is £10 less a month
    Selling old phone on eBay
Bought all the Christmas cards for next year at 50% off.
Bought loads of veg from the supermarket at 10p and frozen it
    Avoided the sales
    Joined greenredeem
Printed vouchers for things we use already.
Used 99% of the present box which has saved lots of money this Christmas.

  • Hello all. My mum is fine thanks. A dose of radiotherapy and all seems to be good, she has to wait five years for the all clear but we are all relived that she is in current good health and spirits. Mum cannot walk very fast now and gets quite tired but this is minor. It does make you think very differently about life and what's important.

Luckyinlife it's nice to have someone on the same journey.

Hello mortgage girl and Crumpets. It's lovely to be back :p

  • Today has been a nsd. Putting the Christmas decorations away and tidying the house. I am trying to donate all the unused items in the house to the local charity shop, I know for a proper mse fix I should be selling. Chicken stew soup for tea and hubby is having salad as its looking limp in the bottom of the fridge. Shopping tomorrow for food, hoping to get it under budget.
Going to make a list so I don't make unnecessary purchases.

happy new year littlgreenpeas sounds like your off to a determined start for 2016. Can I ask what greenredeem is?
Positivity is the key there is a reason why life happens. Find your rainbow and ride it.
  • Hello Lavinia21
greenredeem is a website that I actually got off the mse site for vouchers on supermarket shopping. Basically you make pledges do recycling and then they let you have vouchers on Unilever products. It's not a large money spinner but it's worth a small amount of time for money off.

  • Well this weekend has been very productive, all the cupboards have been cleaned and cleared. I feel so much better about the house now as it was getting me down. Lots of things we haven't used in 6 months will all go to charity.
I have signed up to do a mud run with some friends for charity. This will help, me get motivated to lose some more inches.

My tyre got a nail in it which was luckily repairable £14. We also spent some Christmas money but apart from that it was a no spend weekend.

No rock and roll this weekend but I loved being with hubby
