So you're basically saying you need to get them on side! Which basically means your former method of intimidation probability won't produced as good a result.

Basically like I said all along. Looks like I have proved it!

So you chose to ignore my last paragraph.

You do need to get them on side but often you have to be assertive, you have proved nothing.

Take it back again and ask to speak to the manager (not a department manager), tell them that it didn't come with any disks and you would like it repaired under the guarantee that you was given at purchase.

Remember the people at customer services have no discretion, that's why it's important to speak to main store manager. Start extremely polite and get more assertive if necessary, ensure you talk in a crowded area of the store.

Crowd or no crowd it makes no difference, I have always found that being assertive combined with a smile now and then, gets much better results Than having a rant. Remember the old saying you will attract more bees with honey than vinegar!

OP does the guarantee state anything about retuning disc with a claim. Mention has been made about going to the manufacturer, not sure about this your contract is with Asda.

As has been said letter to their head office will probably get a result, if not send a letter before action saying you will take this to an independent repairer and seek the cost from them via the small claims court, Im sure Asda will settle before it gets that far.
    Good luck.

Wow, how did the the word assertive become intimidation or bullying? You really need to get over yourself.

Assertive - having or showing a confident and forceful personality:

Bully - use superior strength or influence to intimidate (someone), typically to force them to do something:

Intimidate - frighten or overawe (someone), especially in order to make them do what one wants:

Apparently being assertive becomes intimidation and bullying when you're doing it in order to force the other person to do what you want.......sound familiar?

No, being assertive and using bullying or intimidation tactics are not the same at all.

You can be assertive without being a !!!!. You cannot be bullying or intimidating without being a !!!!. Huge difference.

Many store staff try to intimidate or bully their customers, so you often have to be assertive enough to stop this happening.

Which shops do you use? Might I suggest you try elsewhere

Many? That's a word used to describe quite a lot. Would you mind telling us what proportion of staff who work in retail then do this?
