Absolute nonsense indeed. I think you are talking complete and utter cobblers. Some broth in a homeless shelter? Have you ever been to a homeless shelter on christmas day? Ive worked in several and I can assure you the people who lived where I worked got a lot more than broth. And I give to charity all year round as it happens.

I dont have a tv by the way and neither does my mum who I visit at Christmas. I enjoy seeing her and seeing my brother. And yes, some people make a meal of Christmas, but others dont.

    Again, talk about sweeping generalisations.
Apologies Pauline..i was speaking figuratively and i know that more than broth is dispensed at homeless shelters. No..what i mean is,,most people tread over/walk past the homeless (if they really are homeless) any times of the year. Even on the way to the Christmas market they will see them freeze as they pass by....but then give money to charity to try and assuage their festive guilt.

I wonder how the homeless feel in that the only time they are afforded any comfort is when others are gorging themselves during the so called festive season?
Feudal Britain needs land reform. 70% of the land is "owned" by 1 % of the population and at least 50% is unregistered (inherited by landed gentry). Thats why your slave box costs so much..

I get similar from my friends.

I've been single every Christmas in my life, bar one but as i don't really take part in the festivities i don't mind.

  • Or do as I have done - relationship with someone from a different religion. My parents' place for Christmas and Easter, he picks a venue for Passover and Yom Kippur / New Year, and no hassles either way.

Me too, added bonus is that most of my inlaws are 7,000 miles away...(they are lovely, really)

bi-religious = 2 sets of parties for the price of one! In our case Dusshera & Diwali then Christmas & Easter

But the "some people" the OP describes are usually also the kind of people who let you know how they disapprove of such things, tell you you can't have a Hindu blessing after a Christian wedding or ask how many children you're going to have! (none)
  • I have no idea what a single christmas is like, I imagine its cheaper! :rotfl:

It's easier to break up just before Christmas than it is a couple of weeks before a holiday which is all planned and paid for.

Or on the first day of a week long holiday, which is what happened to my brother. Now THAT was awkward!

I will be single this Christmas and i am really looking forward to it. I would rather be single and happy, than being in a relationship that isn't working and having to pretend i am happy, especially over Christmas! Been there and got the t-shirt.
