No, the weather hasn't helped. Where I live the wind blasts up the hill from the Mersey estuary and it gets a just a little chilly;) and rainy:(, hence no rush on the soffits/pointing.

For us the rental property has suffered as a result of the neighbouring building being demolished and the plans to build a new property (permission granted about a decade ago) never came to happen meaning this large exposed wall has remained exposed for the first time since it was built. We're in Somerset, thankfully high enough not to have been directly affected by the flooding, but the persistent rainfall wreaked havoc on the pointing which was already in bad shape. On the plus side, the roof damage which was covered by insurance required scaffolding due to it being 3 storey's so we've taken advantage of it to get the pointing work done. While it's a few hundred quid we hadn't yet planned for, it's saving us £600 by not having to pay for scaffolding specially. We also opted to get the chimney stack taken down following advice that it could be a liability (and the fireplaces aren't functioning anyway). Again, a few hundred quid not planned for, but it made sense to take advantage of the scaffolding again!

Gotta love this property ownership malarkey ha ha

I haven't saved anything for nearly a month and a half. I don't feel I can whilst I have the DWP sniffing around. I was touching the limit for savings with them and if I go over then I have to pay a fine so ive been holding back. I have no idea when ill find out the outcome, soon I hope :(

  • Hugs to cydney! I don't even live with my cat (shared flat in London so not really appropriate) at the moment but I can't imagine what life would be like without her :(

Nothing for me this month as I've just paid off a holiday for October (yes I know it's ages away but nothing else to pay except the airport transfers closer to the time). Roll on April pay day so I can get some more money back into the savings. AG :-)

Hi everyone :hello: How are we all getting on? I've saved £550 this month so far in my ISA but am not declaring my March total just yet as have got some bags of change to put in at some point next week...

Very sorry to hear about your cat Cydney :( I know how heartbreaking it is losing a kitty xxxx

I can't believe we are nearing the end of March and are nearly a quarter of the way through the challenge. Scary stuff!
