Another £59 in to savings today, interest from my old ISA. So that's £130 so far. Will be putting another £1400 in when we get paid at the end of the month.

March looks like it'll be a bit of a battle as it's one of the expensive annual-bills months for me. I've started off with £350 pushed in to savings, so we'll see how it goes :)

Going very well, although partly because a number of the bills aren't going to hit until next month now. But make hay while the sun shines and all that, so dropped £2500 in to savings yesterday. Also a few cheques have (finally!) turned up and been stashed away, so now at £3230 for the month with still a bit to come :D

At £6718 for the year so far, won't quite make £7k this month but a very solid start to the year so far. Now, April, that will be expensive so won't expect another month like this one for a while :(

Almost at the end of topping up emergency funds now too - went through an exercise a couple of months ago to figure out what emergency money we really needed to have in place, quite an eye-opener when you do it. Some things (e.g. new fridge) are easy to overestimate, but surprising what a big bill a few things could trigger
  • Saved £780 last month but spent £350 of that this month.....

Going a couple of holidays which I've no managed to do in about 8 years so it's all good.

Wow Lomcevak! That's a fab month for you and the month isn't even out! Looks like you're on your way to a very successful 2014!

Jason, not to worry about the savings taking a bit of a hit. Sometimes that happens, but as long as it's not every month, you should be able to carry on towards your target.

Did you get away anywhere on holidays?

This month seems to be dragging soooo bad; I want pay day to be here already so I can declare this months savings lol! Is it just me that keeps checking my balances on an almost daily basis even though I know virtually nothing has changed? Ha ha

That said, I had to loan my £200 savings for this month to my mum but she assures me she can pay it back next week. My sister & I are also waiting for bills to come in for the work done at our rental property, which will come in at roughly £1900. The house insurance is covering £550 of it as the main purpose of the work was to repair storm damage, but we decided to get some extra maintenance work done while the scaffolding was up and paid for by the ins co. This included taking down an unused chimney stack and re-pointing a whole wall (3 stories & windowless!). Thankfully we had 3 months or so to prepare for the bills coming in so we've not touched the rent in that time and that will cover the costs. Next month I should be able to start putting my half towards my own savings again - fingers x'd!

It's also ridiculous that I'm wishing away time as I've got a BIG project coming up at work in 3 months time which I've already started planning for and need to do a ton more, including training of 20+ members of staff on top of my normal workload. I think I'm going to deserve an uber holiday if I survive to the 2nd half of this year :D

  • Seems I'm catching up on a terrible start...march *should* be ending with £3,000. I have some big expenses in April though, going to boxing at wembley in May so have to pay the tickets, flights and hotel etc, combined with about £550 on credit card....will be delighted if I get £500 saved for April. June,July and August being the 3 main income months I need £6k at least from that 3 at the rate I'm going at!!

I've been doing pretty rubbish so far this year it would seem... But I have only had one pay day from my new job so far - and some of that had to pay off my overdraft as I was approx £400 in to it. Seeing as we've just moved house too there's been other related expenses that shouldn't occur every month - including things like extra petrol having to do several runs between the old and new house to move things, etc. When I get paid again this month I should be able to start putting the plan in to action!!!

Just been on holiday and paid out for two new tyres for my car, so savings are slightly below 7k again. I anticipate being able to really get my savings going again now though. :D

Savings pot has taken a hit due to some unforeseen circumstances.

To reflect this change with the intention to use this money as part of my rainy day fund I have amended my mortgage deposit numbers and added -£2000 to reflect the money I have just loaned out.

As I get payed back I will deduct the amount from the -£2000 and put a positive value into the pot.

Good thing it hasn't had to come out of this years savings ay.
