Quick update from me. I managed to save a bit more money this month so my official total for March is £1493. I won't normally be able to save this much each month but this month my husband got back £400 which has been long over due from his employer for outstanding expenses. Plus we got a £100 joining fee from the bank and I noticed that our old Gas Supplier has continued to take direct debits from our account for the last two months when they shouldn't have so that was another £90. In addition we have managed to spend £150 less for the month than we normally budget for food so thats also gone into the savings account as I get paid in a couple of days and theres already plenty of food in the house. I have also got a new job so that means I will be able to save another £700 a month after tax so that will be a massive boost to our savings. I really should update my target so will get round to doing that at some point.Save £3000 in 2014 - £4290/£3000 :j

Quiet mid-month slump here
Over on my own diary I am saving towards my bestie's hen weekend. I worked out yesterday that in the space of 34 days I have saved £38 and not even noticed a difference in my budget. A bit scary. Also, a pity, as if that type of saving continues that would've been a great extra to the challenge here for me.
Payday next week and things are looking positive at the moment.Mortgage at 12/07/2022 = £175,000
Mortgage today = £161,690.76

I saved half a tank of petrol yesterday, thanks to my 'new' car. Driving up to Yorkshire I would have used a talk full in the old car but the new one has an mpg meter, so watching that and driving sensibly I managed an average of 48.8 mpg. Very pleased with myself! I'll be doing the same when I go home next week, so a full tank of petrol - about £55 - saved. Also no gas/elec being used at home - another £25 - so that will also go toward my NZ trip. Baby steps but it's adding up nicely0

I have been neglecting this thread, saver no 027 here.
I'm not sure where I'm at really, since I came into a small inheritance and promptly maxed out a cash ISA, so I've nearly saved my proposed 6k already, only not saved it if you see what I mean:o.
I was going to open another ISA and use that for regular savings in April, but need to look and see if there are going to be better offers with the new £15k ISA that the Drapers Boy has said is going to be available in his budget. Not that there is any chance of me saving that much, but it might liven the market up a bit!0 -

I had a similar situation last year after we sorted out the cash inheritance after my dad passed away. I too tucked as much as I could into an ISA; I had actually maxed it out as well but then unexpectedly had to withdraw a chunk of it within weeks, so wasted some of the allowance unfortunately.
I didn't achieve much at all last year with regard to my target due to a ton of unforeseen circumstances/expenses. But I purposely didn't count the inheritance so that it didn't diminish my determination to save... Well, I wasn't successful, but at least I had good intentions and managed to not touch most of the cash in the ISA!£12k in 2019 #084 £3000/£3000

I have more than that to do something with, as the house needs work doing on it, soffits and fascias and pointing desperately, I'm keeping some aside for that. Also there are some cracks that have appeared in part of the house, which I hope is just a bit of settling, ( I live on a steep hill), but need to make sure it isn't symptomatic of something more 'interesting' before I decide what to do, or if I have cash left over. that may wipe out any chance of saving. Ho hum!0

When I came into the inheritance my partner & I had just bought our own property. We probably spent around £4k between us to bring it up to standard (and I continue to find improvements to make lol). Thankfully though this was spread over a period of time depending on when we had the spare cash for it. On the flip side, the property we inherited and have subsequently let out needed a lot of work done to it, just under £4k, to make it suitable to let so that's where a chunk of the funds went initially. Then we had some storm damage, part of which was covered by insurance but also highlighted some maintenance work that was required, funnily enough pointing work over 3 windowless storeys, and a new fascia board on the kitchen! Will be relieved once its all done though, it's been a bit stressful having it hanging over our heads waiting for the weather to improve sufficiently!
Hope you don't find anything too interesting when investigating the causes!£12k in 2019 #084 £3000/£3000

No, the weather hasn't helped. Where I live the wind blasts up the hill from the Mersey estuary and it gets a just a little chilly;) and rainy:(, hence no rush on the soffits/pointing.0
