Ha ha, I know what you mean, that's the kind of thing my OH does. Thankfully I'm quite a willing DIY'er, especially for a girlie and all thanks to my late Dad. The motor for the rear windscreen blade broke on my old astra a few years back. The garage told me it'd cost in the region of £100 for them to replace it for me. I bought a 2nd hand one off eBay for £15 and did it myself (well, with my OH on that occasion as it was a job which required 2 pairs of hands due it being a hatchback). I replaced a peeling sticky tile vinyl floor in our entrance hall with solid teak mosaic flooring at the end of last year which I'd bought for £30 on eBay (3m²) but am awaiting assistance from a chippy friend as I need to get the last piece cut with a very neat curve and I know I neither have the skill or tools to do this bit myself!

I want a sliding wardrobe in our bedroom too and ordered the custom fit doors/tracks a couple of weeks ago (50% off sale). Again, I'm waiting for an opportunity to get my chippy friend round as we need to put a 'false' top in due to a sloping ceiling and, while I think I could bodge it, I want to be sure that bit is sturdily built!

I will bring my car round to you when I need a service, and do you want to have a look at my bedroom ;)
Thank you for reading this message.

Things have taken a bit of a turnaround for me and my husband in the last week or so and we now have to save at least £7k by the end of July. However since joining this thread I have been surprised at how much we have been able to save - I think we can do it as long as we put back at least £600 a month for the next 5 months. Unfortunately we will have to spend this money in August if we have met the target but now that I know how much we are capable of saving we will hopefully be back to where we are now in no time. Sometimes other things have to take priority.

Yipeeeeee my garden wall is fixed

Booooo it cost me money! :)

On the bright side it seems that my wall was quite cheap so although it screws over my savings plan, it doesnt do it by as much as it could have :).

Looks like it is read only. If you'd like me to take a look you can PM me and I'll let you know my email to add to access.

    Let me know.

In the meantime you could 'File' 'Download as' 'Microsoft Excel' and have a play with it. Just means you can't update it on here officially. I hope this is helpful, not patronising. It is intended to be the former :)

Yeah I could have done that It'll only be a quick tweak to the equivalent of the vba code I think so didn't really see the point in making the change to a copy.

    Not patronising

I'm happy that I received a bit of a bonus this month, so I've been able to save an extra £400... bringing this month up to £2,400. I feel less behind my (very / too ambitious) target!! Keep going everyone!
I'm trying to remember to pay my future self first!

This week's grocery bill totalled £14.93, 7p under budget. Have enough of everything to last for two weeks and as I'm away for a week looks like this month will be well in budget, so hopefully I'll be able to put away a little more than a months savings

So good news...it's my birthday yay  so seeing DGD later.

Bad news...the saving is not going very well this month, culminating on me having to spend £180 on DD1's medical insurance for her 5 months in China! Still, at least I had the money available, but the new carpets will have to wait.
