I don't find them in any way offensive. I hardly notice them to be honest. They've just always been there. I don't understand why they keep doing it when it's such an ineffective way of getting people to join their particular church but they believe the Bible tells them to spread the word of God so I suppose they feel they have mandate.0 -

It also says to judge lest ye be judged and these people spend their entire time speaking of the ills of society and how everyone is going to hell. I don't know how genuine many of these people are, their own lives may leave a lot to be desired.0 -

Yes Cotta and it also says that a righteous man will never enter the kingdom of heaven.
Evangelicals often take what suits their purpose from the Bible and ignore what they don't like. If you challenge them on this they will have a litany of other quotes to give you which proves they are right. You need to be more clued up than them on the Bible to engage with them - which is why I never do.0 -

Maybe they do lead exemplary lives. I think it's "judge not lest ye be judged".
Maybe they do, maybe they don't. We were just talking about Leslie Hale the other week in this forum. He swears blind he didn't do anything wrong but has lived at least a goodly part of his life on funds donated by other people. Hero or villain?0 -
Don't they at least care that (a) in general people don't listen to them and (b) they are putting people off Christianity?0

It seems not. They follow the creed which says "spread the word of the Lord". Pick a source from this location http://www.openbible.info/topics/spreading_the_word
For these particular evangelicals this spreading the word takes precedence over almost everything else. Or so it appears to me.0 -
I am ok with the gay pride day. It is colourful and fun and normally passes off peacefully. There is little alcohol-fuelled antics on display and I think we just have to be a bit more tolerant of others. We may not agree with what they stand for but for one day a year we can live with it.
btw its good to see you participating in one :T0 -
the on street preachers have every right to use the town center if they wish. it would appear in a number of threads on this board that there is a growing intolerance for people in towns and cities if their entire motivation is not the maximization of profit or spending.0
