  • Back from docs with prescription for anti biotics. Was as suspected.. a water infection. No drinking for me for the next week which is a good incentive to cut back, which I need to do.

Does anyone know if stamps will be going up in April? I'm tempted to buy a few books of them!!:D

Occasionally Superdrug sell stamps at a discount, I think 5%, so worth asking when they re next running the offer and stocking up then.

Used my Tesco vouchers at face value today just to get a few bits and pieces. Loo rolls were 18 for £5 so that's us sorted for a while.
Didn't do a menu plan before I went so actually stuck to the few things I went for and a couple of things DGD added to the cart. Cherry cola? And ice creams. Oh well not too bad.
Back to menu plans and shopping on line or travel to Aldi next time though.
Starting the year with a positive bank balance which is great.
Doing my SOA today gave me a good surprise for once.

    Jan 2nd Frugal update

    (1) Washing successfully dried outside (on Jan 2nd!!!). It's now just in need of airing in the house. I am so very thankful for south facing garden even though it's tiny.
    (2) Joined January Dryathalon (for health and wealth)-will save lots on wine-will give half to charity and half to my savings
    (3) Going to list unwanted DVDs and Books on Ebay later today also helps decluttering in this bijoux house.
    (4) Have cut up some old t shirts for cloths
(5)Will reuse veg leftovers in a curry tonight
    (6) Will start thinking about kitchen garden vegetables that I will grow this year and draw up a plan.

Very sunny here, so off out with the dogs for some free sunshine while it lasts. It's so lovely to live simply and frugally. So much easier than running to the shops constantly updating furniture and clothing. Things might be a little worn round here but who cares?

Hi Zafiro - We(2) are home all day, have oil ch/water off a cooker,a woodburner and live in a average 3 bed det. house(fairly well insulated). We average 5/6 units a day. Did you mean 20 a week ? Seems a lot for a day - We have four freezers ! jac.xx

I have just gone through the freezers, fridge and cupboards and the amount of food is quite amazing - I am trying to come up with a menu plan now but there is so much its quite overwhelming! Really I souldn't need to shop again this month execept for a few fresh bits - but I was planning on going to a slimming club so will need more veg and fruit!

I also got 6 £10 off a £50 shop for Sainsbobs - I was going to do an online shop today as I already had a £15 off a £60 shop for delivery before the 4th but might leave it and visit the store next week when I need the fresh stuff. It's not my nearest supermarket but it is close to my DD2 work so I can pick her up or drop her off and nip in - so does her a favour too. Just need to keep the shop to £50 which will be my problem!

Other frugal things today - I have also signed up for the Janualry Dryathlete so no wine (even though I have loads left over from the New Year Party - but can save that for my daughters 21st in Feb) also not planning on going out with my friends this month so that will keep spends down

Ordered a new hose for my vacuum instead of buying a new vacuum which I would of probably done in the past - and didn't pay for express delivery - I will just have to wait another couple of days to vacuum!

Got kids school shoes in the outlet - saving £24 - It is one thing I don't compromise on - my DD3 has strange sheped feet and can only wear certain shoes and to be honest the last pair has lasted since last may so not too bad!

Right going to try to do some menu planning now!

  • Can't believe I've barely done anything on my list... where has the day gone? I've had about 4 coffees because i'm so tired yet i think they are making me worse lol! A parcel from my brother came today from abroad. He got me some fabrics which are wonderful. I had a business last year sewing and selling childrens clothes but I ended up giving it up as it was just too much work! so the fabric will either be for making Hollie clothes or for making things for the home :) xx

Goals: Save £500 for emergencies, Save £200 of Amazon vouchers for Xmas, fix my holey clothes!
