More money in the debt repayment pot this week - slowly but surely :D Bought a needed pair of boots half price in Cotton traders, thats my only purchase for some time in the clothes department. Used money off vouchers in Mr T today so will put the difference in the pot too. Mum won a hamper and doesnt want it so am picking that up tomorrow. Sorted the freezers yesterday and they are quite healthy thanks to Sainsb's vouchers last month. Defrosted cake for hubby so he is happy. Picked up dry roast peanuts today £2 for a big bag so have nibbles too, hubby has very little appetite so need things to keep him interested. Am quite happy with things so far - onwards and upwards

The washing is aired now and put away. Did I iron it before I put it away? No, I most certainly did not. I I figure that I dont need to spend money on electricity and time slaving over a hot iron. Most of the creases will drop out and who cares anyway? Some of my friends spend literally hours ironing everything- even underwear and bedding. In fairness one of them actually likes ironing and finds it soothing but the rest complain about it constantly so why do it?

  • Sorry it's late but HAPPY NEW YEAR everyone.

Been to London for the night last night to watch the Darts final, it was awesome and DOH and I thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. It cost a bit but it was a xmas present and it will be our final luxury for the year!

with regard to frugalling - used leftovers from the fridge for food and have has a NSD which is a great start.

For those looking at sweetie jar - I would definitely recommend going to the local sweet store. My local shop sells empties for 50p each which I don't think is too bad.

    Hope everyone's had a great day. x
  • Vegetable soup?

Hi guys, I made soup but neither me nor mum remembered to put it in the fridge (I left it cool, walked the dogs and it just went out of my head) - Mum did a roast yesterday and so I wasn't in the kitchen.

Any how it has sat on the hob with a lid on since Tuesday night...........Can we eat it?

I don't think so but 1. it was nice soup and 2. bit of a waste.
    Nevertheless she persisted.

Of course, just heat it well until it's piping hot :D

My mum makes soup and leaves it out in the kitchen for DAYS and we managed to make it to adulthood ;)

I agree - we never iron, life is too short :rotfl:

Buffy, if it smells okay then go for it. Like mooomin says, just make sure it's piping hot

So I've been in work but have tried to remain frugal:

    - Breakfast and lunch from home
    - I'll munch on some goats cheese and ritz cracker leftovers this evening (it's ourely in the name of frugality and not wasting things obviously, nothing to do with the fact I just fancy it and we have some left over :rotfl:)
    - I ordered some pressies for my youngest in a sale (I know this thread is about not spending, but I'm not telling my 6 year old that so in the sales it is..)
    - a stonking Body Shop offer was dispatched today (I was worried they'd reject the order) which has my Mum and MiL sorted for their birthdays
    - Menu planned until next pay day (20th) and planned a shop woth the money we have left in the grocery purse (actually... I need to update my sig). We ha e 3p spare :o and I expect we've forgotten something so might go over this month, darned it

    Hello everyone
A spend free day today so that's 2 in a row, and hopefully tomorrow will be the same. DGD has gone home today and I swapped Xmas goodies with her mom for satsumas and coffee, so win win I think as I wouldn't eat them.
Back to normal now, lunch already made for the next two days whilst Im at work and as Im working Sun and Mon I will do those on Sat. The washing is all up to date and some of it nearly dried outside so going to put the heating on for a couple of hours to finish it off. Hot water bottle on the side to put into bed soon as starting work for 6am tomorrow and then off for an early night - exciting life I lead!!

Made a load of savoury mince earlier and had cannelloni for tea, so will ring the changes with it over the next 3 days for dinners, perhaps a spag bol, shep pie and mince and chips but will have a think about it, so not spending money, but I will have to go to Ald@ to get some lettuce and cucumber whilst they are 39p for my gp, she loves them
    Keep happy and healthy
