Todays frugality went out the window when I got a customs charge of £15 for an item from Australia. It was almost as much as the item being bought. It's really easy to default to cynicism these days, since you are almost always certain to be right.0

PM2326....hope your cat is feeling better today, rubbish when pets are poorly
Happy Belated Birthday Nat!
Dawn, hope your roof is okay!
Well the weekend ended on a bit of a low for me, a great aunt passed away in her sleep, we knew it was coming but just not quite so soon, so glad it she was peaceful
This morning I decided to try and get things more organised money wise by opening a higher interest rate ISA for the new tax year, turned out I needed an appointment to do this, so thats made.
I planted some (out of date) pea seeds about a week ago and today i've noticed the first shoots coming through.....just LOVE homegrown pea's Yummy!

Hi guys
My cat is recovering well, still not sure what's done but he slept all day yesterday which is unusual as he normally stays in for a couple of hours max then he's back outside, eventually got him to eat at about 6pm, he went out for maybe 30 mins, came back in and went back to sleep......however 5.10am this morning he landed with a thud on my bed and announced he was well enough to go outside :rotfl:
He's still not quite right but I'm not as worried as I was :T0 -
Thank you for all my birthday wishes. Just got back from the beach, I love the beach its free and great fun. Caught up with a friend today, did a bit of work now having a hot chocolate at home. Taking the 2 DS's and a friend to a big park tomorrow, was going to go to a play centre but its £4.50 each so £13.50 plus u can't take food in so it would have been a £30 day. As its sunny, the park will be free, I'll take a picnic, maybe a few £ for ice cream and I'll sit and readMum to 2 DSs, dog mum, wife full-time worker.

Glad your cat seems better PM
Went to the garden centre with DD today - plants and garden things are my downfallDidn't spend too much though, but I did see lots of things I would like  Good job I only have a little garden :rotfl:
We did a mega house clean (OH did the bathroom and I did the rest of it :rotfl:the bathroom is VERY clean though :rotfl::rotfl:)and I made a big pot of bolognese to use up lots of bits in the fridge - we had some tonight and there is enough for tomorrow with a jacket potato
The roof fixing man is coming tomorrow - OH can deal with that though. We are hoping he can reach to fix a new tile from the velux window in the loft conversion, to avoid all the scaffolding / ladders thing all over again :eek:0 -
pm - glad kitty is feeling better
I know I worry when mine are poorly.
Well, NSD today, up to 10 so far this month:) Been mainly working and doing general chores. Tomorrow I WILL tackle the housework in between working! The living room floor is getting bad! I brought firewood in and may have dropped it..oops...bits everywhere!
Off to find a 'new' book to read

Merry - so sorry to hear of your loss xx
Pm - glad to hear that your cat seems to have perked up!
Went for a lovely walk in the countryside with some friends this evening. Spent £2.70 in a village pub on half a pint of cider and some cashews! So not a big spend today, but we had a lovely time.
Hope you're all having a frugal start to the week!0 -
Sincere condolences merry
nat good for you choosing the park over a play centre. I'm sure they're not all the same but I went to one with a friend and her little one a couple of years ago and it just seemed like a ball pit and some slides - terribly expensive afternoon out!
nsd/npd today.
Spoke to the HA who have agreed to put lever taps in my bathroom. I have them in the kitchen but arthritis isn't going to improve and it's beginning to be difficult turning them on now. They're coming tomorrow, can't believe they'll be here within 24 hours of my phoning them!
Sweet dreams0 -
Sorry to hear of your loss Merry
Nat, a good choice to choose the park instead of the play centre. Fancy not being allowed to take your own food in - chances are that the options that are available are expensive and not that healthy either!
OK, I am going to the town market this morning, which I don't normally get to do as it all happens when I am at work
I am also going to see about another sales unit in a shop which is open 6 days a week as opposed to the 3 days of the one in which I currently rent space. If I can get it, I may keep the two for a couple of months for comparison, but will ultimately do what is most cost effective, which may include stopping trading and getting a new part time job instead. Lots of plans seeing as I haven't finished my proper, fulltime-and -then-some job yet :rotfl:
Other than that, meals from stores (I only need some salad things from the market and possibly some bread) and I should make a cake to avoid buying expensive and less healthy snacks - not that cake is THAT healthy but a HM apple cake or similar where you control what goes in it, is bound to be better than bought biscuits stuffed with fat and sugar!0
