I accept what you are saying but I know the circumstances of OH job. I would say that a job that pays £350 a day is a good job.

I came on here for help sorting MY debts not his job.

The work on the house starts in January to make it more liveable for me.

I can not do any job due to my health. I do not wish to discuss my health any further.

I don't understand why they are your debts, if you are a couple? Do you keep your finances separate? If his income is the only one coming into the house, then his job is important. He needs to earn more money, or you need to sign on as unemployed and look for work. Your health is one of the reasons why you are struggling to manage, you can't keep it separate, it's all part of the whole package. Are you saying you can't do any work, because if that is the case you need to claim benefits. Can you do a sitting down job, maybe a call centre? Have you been assessed for benefits? Can you appeal against their decision? With so many questions unanswered it is difficult for anyone to give advice.

  • Glasgowsaver can we ease off OP a little please, I'm not sure if you're meaning too but your tone is coming across a little cruel.

Struggling, by the sounds of things you're already living relatively frugally. I can only reiterate the point I made earlier re do you need two cars?

You say above that you came on to sort your debt not your OH jobs, but the truth is you do need to find £400 a month just to make minimum payments.

If you can't cut costs further, or up your income, you may have no other choice but a DMP. If you carry on like you are you're going to get into more and more debt.

Please don't think I'm saying these things to be cruel. I'm not.

I appreciate where you are coming from, as my mother was unable to work for a long time due to ill health but was not able to claim any disability benefits.

As someone else alluded to above, I was blunt.....I do not intend to be cruel,

Hand holding and being told it will all be ok is not really my forte.

though as stated, 350 quid a day for 4 days is 1500...so what does the earner do the other 3 weeks of the month...

Again, playing the system would work...sign on and then just be unable to take any job.

Again as the OP's partner does not work much, do they need 2 cars, cant they just have one car.

    and 200 for petrol...again thats a lot.

I have been in a lot of debt and know how to close my eyes to things...

The op was quite clear earlier, they would not discuss their disability........which is fine....

they would like advice on how to make 400 of minimum repayments with a 100 quid surplus, and some months they will have a less than that if there is a lower than "Usual" earnings.....

I hope she finds her LBM and the two of them sit down and discuss how to increase the family income

JSA - 71 per week........that would (roughly) give the extra 300 per month needed to make up the deficit that is required to pay for unsecured debt repayments......

If she has no income, and I would imagine has had no income for a while due to disability, then I cannot imagine she would have a 10k credit card limit, so if anything they are his debts...?????
  • Sorry OP, the limited information you are giving and the reasons you cannot change anything about you and your OHs situation make it difficult for any of us to help you.

    outgoings are more than incomings

you and OH cannot/ choose not to increase incomings (jsa/ second jobs etc)

you cannot/choose not to lower outgoings (try one car for a while by planning your outings when OH isn't at work)

    I wish you luck,

I thought coming on here would help me sort things out in the long run, but how wrong was I. I asked to not discuss personal things but people kept pushing.

I would like my posts removing and my account on the forum cancelling. Can anyone point me it the right direction to get this sorted.

I am going to continue on my own with the money issues. What will be, will be

I thought this forum was supposed to be a good place but I have been totally misled with things that are said about it in certain places.

I will having nothing more to do with this site.
  • You've probably didn't want to hear/read what you've been advised, but believe me, a lot of people on this forum have had the phone calls and letters when debt agencies start chasing, and that's a lot harder to hear and even more difficult to ignore.

There is no miracle solution to your situation. If the suggestions that have been made (sell a car etc) are not possible for you, and there is no chance of upping your income, then you need to speak to one of the debt charities to see whether a DMP is an option.

Good luck. The people here are well meaning and can be blunt, but that's only because the consequences of not addressing debt can be seen all over this forum and it's not a pretty picture.
  • Struggling,

I'm sorry that you feel that way.

I don't want to be mean, and sorry if it has come across that way, but as already stated, you need to either:

    1) up your income, or

    2) reduce your outgoings.

    Please don't struggle on alone.

If you don't want to come on these boards anymore that at least contact one of the debt charities, either Stepchange or CAP (Christians against poverty) who might be able to help you.

    Good luck

What do you want people to say?! Tell you your debt / income / outgoings are fine and not to worry? Well they're not and it won't, so do!

You have been offered the best realistic solutions but you have just rejected the ideas!

When you decide to pull your head out the sand and accept some good advice, we'll prob see you back here!
