Post Code TW19 - cat living around a bus stop

oh, I so wish I could help directly gettingready!
I think your friend is wonderful by feeding it! can I suggest she knock on a few doors and find out if this lady DOES actually own it? if they say not then she would be perfect justified in taking it to a pet rescue centre.
I am so upset at the pics - this poor cat looks in a very sorry state and reminds me of my Nicki - who was just as horrendously matted and hungry - and when I took him straight to local vets they treated him and did tests and it turned out he was FIV, and they said he would have died within a couple of weeks. I had him for three and a half years.
I understand your friend cant possibly take him - but perhaps she or you could ask around for someone willing to 'home him'?
I told the vet it was a stray I had picked up - he didn't even ask about payment and I wasn't charged the usual consulting fee (tho not all vets are as nice as this). He just gave Nicki an antibiotic injection - it was obvious he was ill. said the fur needed to be shaved off and would I be looking after him?
of course! next day I got a phone call from vet saying he was sorry but the cat was FIV. what did I want to do? would I like to pop in to discuss it?
I did, and the upshot was that I would be keeping the cat and from then was liable for his bills. which to be fair, the vet outlined was virtually his tablets every month and a consult fee every other month. as there was no other treatment anyway. he wouldn't do innoculations because of the FIV (in humans it would be full blown aids). he cost me £20 one month and £40 the next month. and I don't regret spending a penny of it - he was a wonderful cat.
oh and within three weeks I had groomed every matt out - and Nicki loved the attention! I think it was a novelty to him and he felt the 'love'!
this poor cat is desperately in need of medical attention and a loving home by the sounds of it!0 -
That is the plan. Too late tonight (she is just going there again) but she will knock on another door on the road where she seen elderly lady one day and ask her if she knows anything about the cat.
We will take t from there.
I was thinking of some warm shelter for the cat (sleeps under van/car it seems) but it is a pavement by a road so not really possible. If it was a stray in bushes smewhere - it would be somehow easier0 -
Did the RSPCA say why they wouldn't even take the time to assess it? How bad does the poor thing have to get? Great it is getting fed but it needs more than that, and above all, shelter in this cold weather.
I do hope your friend finds a way to get it to a vets. Are there any charities around like blue cross or PDSA that would help? I would have thought cats protection would be able to do something.0 -
My friend works all days 6 days per week. There is an RSPCA (or similar) vet in Hounslow but:
1) Open in hours when my friend is at work
2) My friend has no basket, no transport, no money to pay for the vet
I am afraid all she is able to do is the feed the cat ( i will send money for that if needed) and try to find out from neighbors who this cat really belongs to. Then we will see.0 -
Have you considered contacting Blue Cross? there are three animal hospitals in the London area which deal with cats according to their website. plus rehoming centres.
their website is

She could also talk to the cat's apparent owner.0 -
11:15 pm, cat outside, just being fed by my friend again.
Friend will knock on neighbours tomorrow, see what she can find out.
Poor kitty, I have just been out with Zara, it is cold0 -
TBH if it was me, I would actually knock on the said owner's door right now and tell them they forgot to let the cat in - and see what they say being woken up :mad:0
-
it obviously isn't let in the house is it? poor thing.0

8:00 am, cat has been fed by my friend, there was no cars/vans about, cat came out from behind some bricks - must have been hiding there for shelter overnight poor thing0
