    Hi OP

I have no idea how to contact you but I would give the cat a home, I am in Kent & could collect, have just lost my cat, a stray I took in & have taken on a couple of rescues, but I can find room for one more that really needs a home, as I feel I owe it to my last cat.

That is really kind of you.I am sure getting ready will private message you for more details if they can get this cat away and treated.
  • Hi, haven't read the full thread so apologies if this has already been suggested but your local Cats Protection should be able to help - I'm not allowed to post a link as a new user but google Cats Protection should give you what you need.
  • Am I the only one that can't believe what I am reading on this thread? The cat has an owner, it wouldn't have got to 19 years old if it was neglected. People can't go round 'taking' other peoples pets...

Besides - I would not take someone's belongings but this is a living creature that LOOKS neglected.

Living creatures are not "property" - they need care.

Vet appointment booked for Monday now. Friend will take the cat to the vet - with or without owner's permission.

    Will see what vet says.

    With or without?

Is there anything the owner could possibly say that would stop this or are you and your friend completely hell bent on taking this cat even if she has a perfectly reasonable explanation for its condition?

Its about acknowledging that animals are capable of feeling and of suffering, that humans are capable of treating them properly and that we have a responsibility to do so.

Read your own post from somewhere else quoted above and answer your own question.

You are aware that these people are planning on snatching this cat away from it's owner?? They are going to do it "with or without" an explanation from the owner. They have appointed themselves as judge, jury and executioner and are not interested in any other course of action other than stealing.

They are nothing more than common thieves.

Shame on you if you are party to this crime

If your friend is hell bent on taking the cat to a vet, please make sure she does explain that he has an owner. You could be completely unaware of any treatment/medication the cat has been given or is on regularly, and may do more harm than good having it treated without full knowledge. Overdosing on worming/flea treatment, giving medication with contra-indications, not being aware of a medical condition that may affect treatment, etc. are all possibilities.
