    love these:)
  • I believe it was stated earlier in the thread that the 'owner' told Ewa that the cat had only been an outdoor cat since her brother died. After her brother died she refused to enter the house again. The fact that this does sometimes happen with cats was confirmed by other posters.

We don't know really who her owners were or why she came to be so neglected. However, if the people who said they were her owners were not in fact the owners of this obviously needy cat. I cannot imagine why they would say they were.

I cannot accept that it morally right to have taken the cat without dropping a note through the door of the people that Ewa spoke to, to tell them that the cat has been taken to the vet, found to be underweight and neglected and now rehomed elsewhere. It is not necessary to give details of who took her or where she is.

To not tell the owners is extremely unkind since no-one on this board has any idea how the the owners will, or will not feel, when they realise that the cat has gone. There is vindictive mean spirited behaviour here towards the humans alongside the great kindness shown towards the very needy cat.

I was always taught that two wrongs do not make a right. I think it's a good rule to try to live by. I've followed this thread daily throughout.

They also said the cat is 17 (man's version) and 19 (woman version) - how do you explain that? Getting own cat's age wrong my 10 years?

Re brother of the cat dying.. woman said brother, man said sister.

As to posting note through the door - what is wrong with a normal letter by post ;)

I believe that gettingready has said they will tell the owners that the cat has found a new home?
and quite frankly - this poor cat has been very badly neglected - if the so-called owners are indeed its owners, then they should have been investigated and Prosecuted by the RSPCA. who couldn't be bothered.
They should think themselves lucky actually - because the cat has now 'disappeared' they wont face charges of animal neglect.
and that is because someone cared enough to feed, and then take this cat and find it a good home. with the support of gettingready and our 'virtual' support.
sometimes you just have to do what you have to do! and bu99er the consequences.
  • I can't explain the discrepancy in the ages stated. That discrepancy does not justify not telling them. There may be a good explanation but it really doesn't matter. They said they were the owners. They should be treated as such unless proven otherwise. Even poor owners should be responded too courteously. What a awful world the 'eye for an eye' attitude creates.

Nothing at all wrong with a letter through the post. Good idea

    Waiting for 2 things:

    1) To see if any "missing cat" posters come up in the area
    2) Some people to clear from my massive open plan office so can print colour photos of the kitty and include with the letter

But it will be done. No worries.
  • That's good to hear, but think you should do it even if no posters appear. Not everyone puts posters up, even when they do care.

Sorry but if they care they would.

One of mine was missing for an hour (jumped out of a window) and my whole estate was plastered in posters and chip company/vets notified as at the time Chloe was only here very short time and never been outside/did not know the area yet.

Took her around a week to find her way back with me walking and shouting round the estate every night very late.

    Because I cared.

HOW can you say the owners care? this cat has been accepted as a stray by an experienced RSPCA vet? so the owners care? so much so that this poor cat has had to be shaved? is weighing 2.7kg? half the weight of a healthy cat? its Dirty, Matted, and Hungry for both food and love.
the owners DONT care - and as such they don't really deserve any consideration.
