I think Getting Ready's friend has got guts in going round to the supposed owner's house. Many times i would love to have challenged owners on their lack of care towards their pets but as i came across them through my job i would very likely have lost my job had i said anything.

However, twice i was concerned enough to call the RSPCA and to their credit they did check it out.I am just sorry they haven't seen fit to do so this time.

I am still crossing everything for a good outcome for this poor cat.

Frugalista - Yes, I am the only one on here who has admitted to stealing a cat. and as it undoubtedly saved that cats life and he went on to live another three and a half years - even the vet thought I DID THE RIGHT THING! so If you think you can provoke or shame me - think again!
but Gettingready and friend never ever said they would just take the cat - indeed they have bent over backwards trying to do things right!
as you seem to be wilfully misinterpreting the posts - I bid you goodbye as I will not be seeing any more of your posts.

um no - because they don't say they wont return it do they?
I supposed they could be charged with Twocking 'Taking a Cat Without Owners Consent'! but that isn't stealing.

Oh dear.... ignoring the stupid comments....

Update (sorry took me nearly 3 hours to get home, problem with trains)

Ewa knocked on the neighbour but nobody opened.

Cat run up to her, she knocked at the owners door - I was listening to the conversation as she called me so this is not second hand.

A man answered, asked if the cat is his he said yes. When Ewa asked if he wants to keep the cat as she is concerned about always seeing it outside, the man answered that the cat never comes inside, lives outside all the time, is 17 yo, is not well and on special food and he does not want to give the cat away.

When Ewa asked about the state of the cat the man said that cat's fur is in this state as the cat lives outside and sleeps under cars and that they plan to have the cat sedate to shave it's matted fur after Easter.

Ewa did not ask how they make sure cat eats special food when it does not come in the house at all or what special food is it/for what condition.

Above is exactly what the owner said - I do not know what to make of it, neither does Ewa as he he confirmed that cat lives outside and does not come inside at all.

    Comments?
  • The owner has given an explanation and confirmed that he does not want to give the cat away so I think the matter should be dropped.

Also if the cat is on special food ie for urine crystals your friend may have done it more harm than good by feeding it normal cat food.

Then it is definitely their cat and they are seemingly taking responsibility for it. but it seems its either 19 or 17?
old yes - but no reason for badly matted fur! and Easter is not until the 20th of April - most vets will be shut until the 22nd at the earliest. That seems a very long time ahead to arrange to shave the cat? something isn't adding up here.

The cat has access to any crap to feed on as he/she is living outside.

Caring owner of a cat that needs special food and/or medication would ensure cat is kept inside to meet those needs.

Well, if this cats bus shelter is anything like the ones around here - he is dining on bits of MaccyDs, KCFs, chips and drinking coke, lager and cider! hardly the ideal diet for a cat with special needs!

re shaving - he said they are waiting for easter as it is too cold to shave the cat now considering it leaves outside, also that fur is matted and dirty from oil as cat sleeps under cars/vans

sorry, forgot to add the above - just got back in, have to feed/walk my lot..

and yes the woman said cat was 19, man said it was 17

EDIT: The man also said they had the cat from a kitten and it never been inside, always lived outside
