G24 have passed unpaid fine to CCS Collect - what should I do?

Hi,
Back in ollectrAugust 2013 I received a Contractual Parking Charge Notice from G24 with a fine of £100 (£60 if paid within 28 days).
On advise from many friends I ignored the first letter and those that followed.
Today, 9th December, I have received a letter from CCS Collect seeking £100 payment on behalf of G24.
It advises that 'our client may take further legal action which could mean additional costs and fees being added to the balance. Please pay the full amount within 14 days of this letter (dated 3/12/13) to avoid probable further action.
I'm now beginning to wonder if I should have just paid it in the first place. Any help or advise is much appreciated.
Many thanks,
Nick

the best thing you can do now is
READ THE STICKY THREADS at the top of this forum
especially the NEWBIES thread by coupon mad
if you receive any LBA or LBCCC letters its important you read those sticky threads too
then decide what comes next based on having read the appropriate sticky threads
it also depends on the part of the UK you are in, this was never mentioned
as for your friends, maybe they should pay it seeing as their "advice" may have been bad advice ?? just a thought
thank you0 -
CSC collect is the next desk along in G24 nerve centre.
Which is a spare room above a run down shop.Be happy...;)0 -
Hi,
Thanks Redx.
I'm not sure what a stick thread is I'm afraid. Please be patient as Im new to this site.
Any help to locate the appropriate thread is much appreciated..
Thank you!0 -
it is the threads "stuck" to the top of this forum, so the ones above your thread
I will give you the link for clarity https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/4816822
this was also in my signature too
so to be blunt if I may ? (in the interests of clarity)Newbies !!
Have you got a private parking ticket? Read this now!!

I would have thought that anyone who is at college would know how to do research, so am surprised you have not done so, hopefully you will learn to navigate the forum and to research your topic, people here will help you if required, but you have to do the legwork too
so start with that link
bear in mind that by ignoring the letters you effectively gave them the tools to chase you for debt recovery and if necessary for court action, my point being that your inaction has caused their action , so ignoring was never an option because you are no longer ignoring it and if its in england and wales then your "friends" are fools
you also have still not answered the question as to your uk region, which is important
lastly, it is not a "fine", only courts can impose a "fine
its a parking charge invoice for a perceived contravention of rules0 -

I was just passing through.......
If you look at this page - the threads marked with 'sticky' are the ones you should have a look at
http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/forumdisplay.php?f=163
they are full of useful advice.
Good luck!arghhh!!!0 -
Thanks Redx,
Point taken in the spirit it was delivered
Im based In Leicestershire and received the ticket in Northamptonshire..
Thank you0 -
ok, so england and wales then
so if you read the red banner at the top of this forum you would know that the laws changed about 14 months ago, so ignore was stupid advice from your "friends" so they should pay it for you in my opinion as they are equally liable for your current predicament
there is a 8 letter word beginning and ending with d which is what "they" are , LOL
you would be best to try to get the landowner to cancel the parking charge (charge , not fine) as this will make the whole thing "go away"
otherwise you may have to wait until you get an LBA or LBCCC and then come back for legal advice
there is no harm in trying to appeal to the PPC but as its out of time they will probably reject your appeal
the sticky thread covers ALL aspects of the above, so read it, read it again and do so 10 times until you see which parts matter in your case0 -
Many thanks Redx,
Very helpful advise thats very much appreciated..
Have a good day

Just to add to the above advice - G24 have never done court. That doesn't mean they won't start but to date they never have. I've had two G24 invoices and ignored both ( NOTE : - this is no longer the advice !!!! ), it went to CCS and after two letters I heard nothing else.
Given you've ignored past the point of appeal I'd suggest continue ignoring unless you get a Letter Before Claim ( which is very unlikely and which of course, now have read the Newbies sticky, will now know what it means ).0 -
Thanks BrigtonandHove,
Yep, I'm all read up and now aware of LBCC/LBA/LBC letters.
I am inclined to sit and wait and see what happens, and the fact G24 haven't taken anyone to court (YET!!) gives me more confidence to take this stance.
My own concern is if I do get an LBCC/LBA will the charge have already increased above £100?
Feeling brave (or stupid!!) lol
Thank you0
