Technical Flying question: How best to dust, when there's a tonne of Yule [STRIKE]carp[/STRIKE] decs cluttering up all the surfaces (Mr LW insists we put out everything we own of that ilk) - I can't possibly move it all, it'd take an age; and if I dust round it, it'll show that it's not been done "properly" iyswim.

Er ... maybe don't? At all. That is, if you can live with a delicate scattering of what I term 'fairydust' at this time of year, if necessary by adding a very light scattering some twinkley glitter.

Or should I be posting that on the Sloblady Thread?
    Better is good enough.
  • Hi all, do you mind if I join you. Been receiving the flylady e-mails for a while now, but there is so much to go through. Just noticed this thread and it seems so much easier having the list at the beginning of the thread. Funnily enough before finding you, I've tidied the bathroom today and cleared out all the old bottles of stuff, so at least I'm on track so far!

Been to vet and Ozzy has 2 lots of ear drops. Told her I would have a problem getting them in as on my own.He knows what Im going to do.
Won't tolerate being wrapped in a towel. Will try when he's sleeping. Also overweight so food cut down.
I'll add the little (or not-so-little;)) chap to my ever-growing list for healing vibes, shall I?:o If I was closer to you, I'd offer to assist with the ear drops.
DH bless him thinks a day out for me now I am no longer working is to drop me at the nearest shopping centre for a browse whilst he reads a book in the car! That is what I used to prefer but not as much now when I have had just me myself and I for company all week!!! Not sure how I'd be faring without all you "lot" and I mean that in the nicest possible way - so thanks a bunch for your companionship and support. :smileyhea
^ ^ ^ Wot she said! I'm here on my own while Mr LW is at work, and you good folks make all the difference.

:rotfl:I was wondering about just leaving it, tbh; I might see what I can do with the duster-onna-stick and a smallish paintbrush; we get a lot of dust here, and if it has to remain undusted til New Year's Day (when we usually pack everything up) I'll be able to plant spuds in it!:D

Mrs Cheshire welcome aboard - we don't even insist you "dress to your shoes" here.:D

Nicky - let me know how the choc spread experiment goes. I always have it in for the boys and could be tempted to give it a try. Lovely on a banana sandwich. :D

Its going well :rotfl: Had work done (except tidying up afterwards) done by 2.30pm which is almost unheard of on a delivery day! Normally it'll be 6pm when I'm finishing stuff and I end up dragging DD out with me. :D

I don't ;):rotfl: If anywhere needs it I accept that I need to move the stuff, otherwise I tend to leave be until I put stuff away. I do do a blooming good clean before I put stuff out though. Plus I also put most of my decorations away before New Year while DD isn't here 'helping' :D

Trying to decide what to do next, cleaning or ironing. Hmmmm....coffee I think is more important :D

Need to get back to old style in modern ways, watching the pennies and getting stuff done!
  • Afternoon everyone :hello:

Sorry you're feeling so poorly, piggers, I agree with the PP who said just forget about the house until you're well but I also know how difficult I find it to settle in a midden, no matter how poop I'm feeling. I hope a good sleep tonight is winging its way to you.

Thank you nicki and MrsMP, I'll be sticking some newspaper on top of the wall units when the local freebie arrives on Friday. DH usually procures it for cleaning the shoes but I'll feign ignorance as to where it's gone.

My steam mop is definitely on the fritz :( I tried descaling it with a vinegar solution last week but it's no better and is now dripping water from the emergency vent at the back. It's probably taken the huff as my window vac is now my new favourite toy :D I used it on bathroom tiles today and it was brilliant.

Got home from paid stuff and instead of parking my backside on the sofa, I did the ironing. I'd done a load of DH's shirts first thing and hung them beside the dehumidifier, by the time I got back at 2 they were dry :j So I have half a load of washing and NO ironing. This never not ever happens.

I was just about to reward myself with a coffee when my phone rang; it was the lady I went to see yesterday who wasn't in, asking me where I was?! She'd written our appointment on the wrong day  so I had to dash to see her before DS1 got back from school. I start scrubbing for her in the New Year :money:

Picked up a gammon joint for £2 in the coop :money: so that's bubbling away in cola as we speak. Just need to coerce DS2 into doing some homework, clean the bathroom, have a shower and peel some spuds for HM chippies and I'm finished for today :)

HB, I love the fairy dust idea! :D

Definitely got your priorities right, Nicki :D

    Today I have
    - painted the curtain rail board in the DR - new rail is ready for collection tomorrow
    - cleaned DR window inside
    - cleaned LR window inside and outside
    - done WM and TD x2
    - emptied another 10 boxes of books - hope that's all of them, as we're running out of space
    - packed up a small parcel to send to my godson in Germany
    - had a long talk with DH about his problems and mine
    - sent DH out to get fresh air whilst delivering church cards
    - thought about which picture to hang where
    - checked that I've got all Christmas gifts

Must get to the post now. See you later...
