  • Yes, I have just read it all.

I guess I would have to adjust my budget to a more realistic one first.

Is it something I would qualify for?
  • Don't beat yourself up. At its highest my debt was over 14000. It's now 5500. And I've had many slip ups!

You can still get married Crispy. We did this year after a most horrendous financial year and tricky personal circumstances. It cost us under £1000. We felt it was more important to marry then throw an extravagent party for everyone. Go for it!!
  • Agreed. Our wedding was beautiful and cost about £2000. We could have done it much cheaper too. A small intimate wedding is often much nicer than a big thing
  • The monthly pay TV license is a bit confusing when you first take it up the payments are higher (as you buy this year's license) it then settles down to the £12.12 monthly amount. http://www.tvlicensing.co.uk/about/media-centre/news/how-does-the-monthly-direct-debit-scheme-work-FAQ192/
  • Ok, so today is the day I do my money makeover. Will edit my SOA when this is done.

  • So excited to see your money makeover! Good luck with the phone calls!
We did our wedding on about £3000, although that includes the food my parents paid for.
Ebay is great for dresses, I got my bridesmaid dresses, 3 of them all brand new for about the cost of 1 new from a shop. My dress was about 1/10th of the price. We had a sit down main course meal in a pub which did 2 meals for £10, then had their function room with a buffet and disco in the evening. We bought the cake from m&s and some cake pillars, my sister added some decorations to them and we added a topper. The main thing is the photographer, make sure you get someone decent, either a friend or a wedding photographer. We had a guy who normally took portraits so wasn't used to doing capture the moment type photos, which we wanted so we were slightly disappointed with some of the photos.
We didn't hire any cars as my parents lived minutes from the church so I walked with my bridesmaids. HTH
