I had been overcharged and requested a £2 gift card which I got eventually but an assistant followed me round the shop and demanded to know from where exactly I had got the product for which I had been overcharged.

You mean the assistant wanted you to show them which product was overpriced, where it was on the shelf, and you led them to it, willingly?

No - as far as I was concerned the matter was closed satisfactorily.
She approached me some time later and demanded to know from where I had got the product. Had she asked at the time, it would not have been a problem.

Are you sure you weren't just actually asked & not demanded?

I can vouch that the staff in ASDA are poor.

    Yes they are, very poor.

That's because they are poorly paid, overworked and expected to drop everything and come in at the whim of the managers.
Then they are expected to put up with !!!! from customers that overreact and expect too much from a minimum wage employee thats just trying to get through another day at t'mill.

    Just like most other supermarkets.
