Humiliated in Asda again!!

Different people have different tolerance levels when customer service is somewhat lacking.
If you still feel bad sheep-ali perhaps you could put a line or two on the Asda facebook page regarding:
1) The lack of knowledge/training in this store (name it) for the process relating to SafeCoupons, (I have no idea what they are but then I don't work in Asda).
2) Denial of the refusal to process them by the store when asked by Customer Service (store manager should have checked THOROUGHLY first before denying it happened).
3) Final admittance of the event when faced with the time & transaction number.
Personally, I wouldn't feel humiliated. When the staff member started apologising to the 'queue' I'd have turned and said most politely "I'm sorry as well about the lack of store knowledge with this matter, I suggest Asda open another checkout for me, or all of you, while they sort this out so you all don't have to wait any longer.
Following that, I'd have made the 'manager' go and phone customer services for a lesson in how to process the coupons while I waited.
After bad service people always say "I'm never shopping there again etc", until the next week when they want more shopping! Phone and tell customer service you don't want to go through the experience of using these SafeCoupons in that store again and you'd prefer an Asda shopping voucher for £5 to cover your coupons and phone calls instead.
Sometimes humiliation is something you do to yourself when you lack self confidence and/or assertiveness. Not a bad thing but sometimes you just have to grow some balls!Seen it all, done it all, can't remember most of it.0 -
I usually have a bundle of coupons and I just hand them to the cashier - she scans in what can be used and hands me back what cannot be used. it is nothing to feel humiliated about.35, semi retired, sun, sand, sea, life is good
When you are done moaning remember that there are people who would love to have your standard of living!0 -
Sheep-ali - you are over reacting to a simple situation.
You presented some coupons to Asda and they would not scan in, as such they could not be used - simple.
IF they were legitimate coupons - how did you print them? perhaps your printer does not print with a high enough resolution to make them scan-able.
But for the little amount you get ff with them - it is certainly not something humiliating to find they are not accepted - and not all stores and staff know about every little coupon scheme going.
No - they do NOT get "training" on every little thing, certainly not on every coupon scheme going.0 -

This store is the only supermarket in the town and, frankly, they do not care about the customer because they know that they will have to travel at least 20 miles to find another supermarket.0 -
I don't shop in asda anymore as they made me feel like a shop lifter when trying to use a coupon. We have a few large supermarkets all next to each other so I can be fussy,
I do wonder if we live in the same part of Scotland0 -

Not if you have a choice of supermarkets, we don't
Maybe it is a Scottish staff thing0 -
I was in Morrisons and used vouchers last week end.
The till operator said they don't accept internet vouchers.
I said please call a supervisor.
The supervisor said they don't accept internet vouchers.
I said these vouchers say for use at Morrisons.
The till operator got rather huffy.
The supervisor said they would on this occasion.
I said thank you.
If they hadn't accepted them then I would have just said - oh well, you'd better put the rest of the shopping back and I won't be shopping here again.
I don't know why some jobsworths take it upon themselves to decide what policies are or aren't acceptable, but you just have to stick to your guns.0
