PasturesNew the problem with most of those sites is you just don't get very much money for an hours work. And, I've come to discount talk of residual income because sites come and go. Best site was that hubpages, but google slapped it down hard.“The ideas of debtor and creditor as to what constitutes a good time never coincide.”

In fairness, my answers to 'are you Michael Gove' and ' do you agree with and approve of Michael Gove' are identical so I probably didn't dissect the question as much as I might have done.
Brilliant post. :rotfl:lostinrates wrote: »I have tried to make compost always, When we bought here I stopped with the compost bins and made a pallet type thing and stacked my compost like a midden or muck heap and indeed added muck occasionally. Finally I have great compost not just a bit of also ran stuff that smells. Why? I dunno. Maybe its because I'm good at stacking. The heat in a proper stacked heap is considerable (and placement needs to be considered wisely. You don't need to turn it. You just need to stack it well, which is very satisfying.
I have one of those compost bins like everyone else's. If I use it as it seems to have been designed to be used, then it stinks and nothing rots properly. If I leave the lid off, however, everything seems to be much better - no smell that I notice, no clouds of insects, and much better rotting.neverdespairgirl wrote: »Isaac and I tip-toed upstairs this morning to let OH catch up on some missed kip.
Isaac's been absolutely lovely - I threw up extensively with no warning to start with (fortunately, I was next to the sink) and he kept quiet until I finished, then produced tissues and silent pats on the back. Angel child!
Now he's trying to make me lie down on the sofa, and he's brought me a glass of water, mostly not spilled.

Tyre performance in the wet deteriorates rapidly below about 3mm tread - change yours when they get dangerous, not just when they are nearly illegal (1.6mm).
Oh, and wear your seatbelt. My kids are only alive because they were wearing theirs when somebody else was driving in wet weather with worn tyres.0 -

It's a hard one. The lids designed to keep the compost heap warm so it kills off seeds. But I've never managed to get one of those things warm enough to do that, anyway.
I go for a stacked compost heap, and always have. We get tons (literally) of good compost from a mixture of grass cuttings and poplar leaves, stacked in huge heaps.
That's not useful for a small garden, though.“The ideas of debtor and creditor as to what constitutes a good time never coincide.”

My old neighbours had three ponies (one pony, two horses) stabled. Their properly stacked muck heap, on straw, so the most type of muck coming out of a stable, filled at its maximum, four cubic metres. Something really well stacked, with enough heat it it condenses and rots down AT the most incredible speed. Tbf, they put no compost on it.
I put at least one of those one tonne bags of muck on the heap every day in summer, pure muck. We certainly do not have 1000 of those bags wor of muck, even though I haven't stacked all of it, ( its not possible to stack all of it, not because of quantity which is easy job, buit because of the fact I'm making a muck heap in an old slurry pit, so its below bound level, and under water in winter, so lots has been used to make a base level! Last year my muck heap was on ones are of them at and filled the whole space to the top of the wall before I said to swap to other side to let it rot. I forgot to stack it up morebut it suck down by about two thirds over the last few months, We haven't even made it up to ground level on the other side yet.
I wish, like you, I had stacked compost earlier. I reckons. A domestic garden could do it in two smaller stacks, one in use at a time. Especially a low waste kitchen. I'm always wondering what extra I could add to the compost. I use paper to line the bucket, or paper bags if we have them.
Also, I am wondering if there is any earthly use for clothes dryer fluff. I might google later.0 -
I dared to try on the jeans I bought in the Jan sales for 'when I lose weight'.
They fit. I've dropped a dress size. There's a silver lining to every cloud.Everything that is supposed to be in heaven is already here on earth.

So, is it just poo? That might work. Although, they say to be wary of poo if growing veg due to some of the chemicals / medicines they feed horses ending up in the soil. *shrug*.
I know what them there horses get fed though...from hay and any sprays and medicines ( and medicated poop is kept out of heap.....funnily enough until we sprayed last year we were better practice than soil association I reckon, not many dairy farmers poopicking if they have something needing medication..)
