I've been watching it too; don't understand most of it but it has been fun. I shall be bereft tomorrow when I get home from work :(

I've had a surprisingly effective day. Should have been at church at 9am but getting out of bed never quite happened ... A neighbour knocked on my door a bit later, so I got up at that point and went to help him prune his apple tree.

Spurred on by that success, I pruned my own without breaking it, me, the ladder or the loppers / bowsaw. Half of it was done by a friend a couple of years ago, so the other half needed attention now.

Did a bit more tidying up, chopping up old sunflower stems into the green wheelie bin ready for when the collections start in 5-6 weeks.

Now need to decide what to eat...

I love big pruning. DH begs me to do it on days he 's here so that he can wrench the tools from me when he feels the poor trees have had enough. :rotfl:

The two little fruit trees in the front garden were very sweet and productive but gave lots of diseasy fruit when we first came, Subsequent years we're getting better and better quality fruit. Its ok there is less, as its actually much better quality!

I go on there, but I think many of the forums have become so much less tolerant over the last few months or year or so. People very quick to call troll or criticise someone for not having full knowledge already. :(

I think you are right; many of the forums are just unpleasant to be in now, particularly anything to do with debt, benefits, or similar. Very bad tempered. I'm down to old style and greenfingered and generally just lurk at that.

Had a very lazy day, apart from the party read books with DD1 and DS, cooked with DD2 and read some of my book. It would have been better to do some outside stuff but with everyone nursing nasty sounding coughs at a minimum it didn't seem to be a good idea.
    I think....

Another first world problem. We have a week off in March and had considered going away. My three suggestions ; Wales in a motor home so we could take the dog , or snorkelling and heat - not too far: Sharm , so a more recent suggestion - a city break - Kiev.

We do not want to be confined in a tin can with a damp dog, OH has vetoed the other suggestions on safety grounds.

NP inspiration required. Previous recent hols at this time of year have been Norway, Cyprus, Dubai, European cities, motor home in Wales/England. We are planning a main holiday in June so it is not a disaster if we do not get away.

Extreme edge of Europe say Malta, Turkey, Madeira, Canaries?

Did you take a side trip to Sintra?

Not this time, but we did in January 1994 the last time we went.

It was minus 5 when we left Heathrow 20 years ago, and 22 degrees in Lisbon

:j :j I'm getting excited! How are you feeling? :)

OK - it does feel, though, as if I've been pregnant for ever, with eons still to go.

My Dad said, a couple of weeks ago, "it's gone really fast!" which was something only a man could say, I reckon.

My neighbour (who has two teenage girls) said last week, "other people's pregnancies go really fast" which seemed much more of a comment that a woman who has actually been pregnant would say.

I didn't really show until 25 weeks, but now, at 29, my stomach muscles have thrown in the towel, and my bump will probably get its own postcode, soon.

Still being pretty sick and nauseous, which is boring. But hey, only 11 weeks to go.....

I've had a surprisingly ineffective day (unless you count effective as hungover napping...). Good job I got a fair amount done yesterday - gave the house a quick clean ready to receive a guest, and filled the green wheelie bin - mostly with bramble. The thorn-resistant gloves I bought a few weeks back were pretty good. Which is lucky as I ended up mainly removing bramble from an area also inhabited by holly...

Ooh, holly - even worse than brambles for viciousness

Definitely only something a man could say!

I was watching 'one born every minute' at 3am this morning. I haven't really watched it before, but it was incredibly moving. I thought one of the dads was a star; really caring and involved. New series starts tomorrow, I think. Potential viewing for you?

    I wish I weighed what I weighed when I was 19:(.

I get so down about it. I think of so done offered me my figure or my health back I might opt to have my figure back. I KNOW that's a frightful admission revealing my vanity and vacuousness. But I think its the truth. The truth is of course, because the two are related if I had my figure back, it would mean they'd have fixed some of what was wrong with me anyway I guess.

I would love to see a pic of how you looked before you got ill. I'd like to be able to envisage you the way you remember yourself.

I've started getting to know the MFW people a bit recently. They all seem very friendly and consistently encouraging to each other.

Oh, and wear your seatbelt. My kids are only alive because they were wearing theirs when somebody else was driving in wet weather with worn tyres.
