I'm ok. But I am losing 3 hours of my day going to work and back again.
Also, keep being told that working from 8-5:30 is a rather long day
But can't finish otherwise.
What did I miss? Anything new from anyone?
That's no life. It's lovely to see you thoughEverything that is supposed to be in heaven is already here on earth.

For full effect you should listen to it in the dark, standing under the shower. It was cold and rainy that night. Have you listened to it yet - what did you think? Does it have the visual stuff too?0 -

Just found something else wrong with it, the thanks button disappears once you have thanked a post, so no option to remove the thanks....or maybe that is a feature.

But very honking.
Feeling bloody good though.
That definitely deserves a honk. Honk.
Sadly, there weren't any suitable moments for me to honk at work today!
Back to my word of the week - lovely Mr. Neighbour popped round this evening. I was expecting (but didn't get) a bit of warning, so he caught me in the middle of an exercise DVDwearing shorts and a t shirt with a ginormous hole in the left armpit  Goodness knows what he thinks of me. Especially as the tanks from my carpet cleaner were in the bath... I did a LOT of apologising. Not entirely sure whether the problem is fixed, but at least I know how to turn of the water supply to the loo (I was being too gentle with the screwdriver valve). Will drop a bottle of wine over on Saturday.

Absolutely fuming today.
Youngest had a revision day at school with a defined finish time of 2.30pm. I turn up to pick him up at the specified time and find youngest on his own, in the pouring rain, outside the school.
Apparently the teacher had decided to end the day 30 minutes early and turfed the kids out.....unfortunately, she also didn't bother to give me a call to let me know to pick him up.
The school are fully aware that youngest does not go anywhere independently at present, does not use a mobile phone (he has an aversion to them) and has great difficulty voicing when there is a problem. This is a fully statemented and vulnerable student who was extremely anxious when I arrived, who has been very withdrawn all evening because of it and I am spitting feathers.
What happened to safeguarding? They like to talk the talk but when it comes to it, all their promises about the safeguarding of students is just a load of bluster and BS.
GrrrrrrrrWe made it! All three boys have graduated, it's been hard work but it shows there is a possibility of a chance of normal (ish) life after a diagnosis (or two) of ASD. It's not been the easiest route but I am so glad I ignored everything and everyone and did my own therapies with them.
Eldests' EDS diagnosis 4.5.10, mine 13.1.11 eekk - now having fun and games as a wheelchair user.0 -

Congrats on your negotiating prowess... and on getting the house - do you feel like a grown up now?!
I think....0 -
I do wonder what your youngest's teacher is thinking of, Sue. I'm cross with her alongside you!
He's been in her class for months now and there is absolutely no excuse for her to be unfamiliar with the statement and for not thinking through how any change to an agreed timescale will have welfare and other impacts on a vulnerable student. It looks as though she had other things to do, and simply didn't bother to think about this.
Do you get very fed up with constantly having to re-address issues which the school say, each time, they've taken on board and won't reoccur?0 -
I do indeed get very fed up with their very cavalier attitude to his disabilities and wellbeing.
I'm not sure why they do it but I have recently had the impression that they think his autism is something he should have grown out of by now!
The core issue today was that if I had locked him out of the house for 30 minutes with no supervision, social services would now not be very happy bunnies with me as he is classed as a vulnerable and disabled child. He does not go outside unattended, he does not feel safe to do so and when youngest doesn't feel safe, meltdown quite often follows.
Their actions today will probably put the recent programme I have been working on (independent walking), back by months, I'd only just got him to be able to go to my car parked outside on his own with me watching from the door, something which had taken months of work to do....tonight he wouldn't even go out of the front door.We made it! I think cavalier sounds just about right to describe the attitude they seem to have. Certainly the teacher and, if they don't enforce improved attitude of the teacher, also the senior staff.
Is there any way of escalating this (probably yet again)? Can SS read the riot act to the school? Involve outside safeguarding bodies? Ofsted? MP?0 -

:hello: <--- A wave for MsKool from me too.
Don't like the sound of not being able to remove thanks. I am always absent-mindedly thanking things before realising I don't agree with them. (Not on here, of course. Most of what happens on here seems thank-worthy to me, apart from when you all start talking about some music or books I've never heard of, and thanking begins to feel like signing documents without reading them. )Absolutely fuming today.

Sue, the one bright spot in this long dark path through the school's incompetence is that meeting you had a little while ago involving the person from the LEA or whoever it was. Complain vociferously to the school. Be specific. Tell them you want to have, in writing, the steps they intend to take to make it impossible for such a thing to happen again, otherwise you will be talking to the LEA person yourself to report what has happened. Include what you've told us about how social services would be on your case if you had done anything like that. If necessary, tell them that you need their written response about the incident in case social services decide they want to know how it happened. Don't back down.
The bottom line is that the school have persistently demonstrated that they are not taking his needs seriously, and that they don't take much notice of you when you demand that they do. But that's what the LEA and SS people are paid for, so wheel in the big guns, and let the professionals read the riot act to the school.
ETA: X-posted with Yorkie - including the bit about SS reading the riot act!! :rotfl:
PS Is he now getting the hours of TA support that he's supposed to get? I'm still appalled by the whole "we allocated him a TA and had no idea she hadn't been turning up" debacle.:mad::mad::mad:Do you know anyone who's bereaved? Point them to https://www.AtaLoss.org which does for bereavement support what MSE does for financial services, providing links to support organisations relevant to the circumstances of the loss & the local area. Tyre performance in the wet deteriorates rapidly below about 3mm tread - change yours when they get dangerous, not just when they are nearly illegal (1.6mm).
Oh, and wear your seatbelt. My kids are only alive because they were wearing theirs when somebody else was driving in wet weather with worn tyres.0
