I have spent the most of today hearing about equations. Up until about 10 years ago, the type of equations that were being discussed I wouldn't have batted an eyelid at. Now I haven't got a clue.
I've signed up to the irrationality course viva posted a link to (thanks viva - I'll see you in the lectures GBD!), and noticed there was another one for mathematical modelling of biological systems which looked like it would be quite useful too. I'm quite looking forward to 'going to' some lectures again

I'm doing that one too Nikks. And possibly jelly man if he decides to sign up...Please stay safe in the sun and learn the A-E of melanoma: A = asymmetry, B = irregular borders, C= different colours, D= diameter, larger than 6mm, E = evolving, is your mole changing? Most moles are not cancerous, any doubts, please check next time you visit your GP.

Ah - hello viva
Thanks for posting a link - it looks really interesting. I'm hoping that the maths one will help me appear more intelligent (or at least less unintelligent) at work

The upshot is we're picking up two guinea fowl in the morning andi'm not sure whether they are alive or oven ready.
DH thought I meant ' as pets' and I thought 'for supper' god only knows what the people selling guinea fowl think.
Excellent - pet guinea fowl - they sound cute.0 -

There's a farmer near here who keeps them as pets. They escape with alarming regularity onto the lane outside, and frolic around without a care in the world while you sit in the car and wait for them to move. It is their lane after all.
If anyone dares to honk their horn they stare at you, before getting back to whatever guinea fowl gossip about when having a get together in a country lane. Please stay safe in the sun and learn the A-E of melanoma: A = asymmetry, B = irregular borders, C= different colours, D= diameter, larger than 6mm, E = evolving, is your mole changing? I love guinea fowl. Being caught in a guinea jam is hilarious. But they can fly and take care of themselves quite well. I like their faces too.0
