It's funny to think that Britain legalised homosexuality after the end of WW2 and even after the World Cup win (it's hard to see which English people think is more important).

I believe that Georgia is the undiscovered Great Cuisine. Everyone knows that Japan and France and Italy and China and Thailand can have amazing food. Georgia is every bit as good apparently with amazing wine too.

ISTR that, when the Allies liberated concentration camps, they locked the "pink star" prisoners (AKA gays) up again.....

Yesterday when I couldn't make calls I asked DH to order a guinea fowl for me to collect tomorrow.

He's on ths phone now and told me he ordered two and that the conversation was really weird because he said to them 'you cannot really have one can you?' And they said ' cannot you?' And he said 'no it wouldn't be fair' and they laughed and said 'well, there's that'

The upshot is we're picking up two guinea fowl in the morning andi'm not sure whether they are alive or oven ready.

DH thought I meant ' as pets' and I thought 'for supper' god only knows what the people selling guinea fowl think.

Fast forward a year or two and I might be posting that DD has moved out to the newly converted EGLU if I am lucky.

If being a good mum keeps adult offspring at home I might not consider that a result.

You are right, I wrote without thinking. It might be a sign of a good parent (adult child enjoys company, and vice versa) or it could be a sign of insecurity, co-dependence, all sorts of bad things. All depends.

  • OH said he was going to buy some tofu on the way home for Isaac's packed lunches next week. I hope it doesn't come trotting in with a collar and lead.....

I just wonder if other people end up in this sort of thing. I said to DH on the phone while we were both laughing, I don't think many head off on a Saturday to either get a new pet OR supper with an open mind to either option.

Its the kind of confusion you read about and think...huh? That couldn't happen :o

I don't suppose there are are any blue bricks on the house? Matching is good, contrasting is good, engineering blues would resist frosts, regular bricks might blow at some point (maybe what you want?)

Not quite matching would look odd initially but they're going to get dirty quickly anyway, any mismatch wouldn't last all that long.

    Dirty? Here :rotfl::o:o:o:o:o:o

No, I don't want them to blow, I like the look, but when they all go its a pear, that's why I am thinking :o

There are a few plum coloured bricks, but not mainy. Nothing really 'blue' .

I think I'll find out which f those two repos is least expensive and see how I feel then, maybe try and get a sample.

Its to go in the north bit, behind the bit you've done so one boundary to the house will be DONE. :).

Should be landscaping it this spring:j:j:j:j:j

Expect lots of expletives as I try and do maths. DH is just not getting involved in marking out so that any imperfection is my fault. Wise, wise man. :rotfl:

I think I have helped my dad lay slabs when I was younger. Cannot really remember how but I'll work it out. It cannot be so impossible.......right? Main problem is we dug down so far the area actually needs building back up I think, lots of room for bedding in stuff for the slabs I guess.

It sounds like it's ready for some hardcore underneath. That's good.

I don't know if there is going to be another one, but you are welcome to visit Nikkster. I have a friend on the green fingered forum who ha seriously green fingers. She took cuttings from my roses for herself and every single one grew!! And you know those little pot roses you get in supermarkets? She planted one out......its an amazing small flowered and small leaved climber now! I'm nothing like that green fingered! I get a poor success rate with rose cuttings ( I forget about them partly:o). But I'm good with rejuvenating very sick ones.

That is very kind, lir. Be warned - I will most likely take you up on your offer of a visit at some point (not any time soon though).

I have a terrible history of looking after houseplants. I have two which I am killing (sadly I'm not joking - might post a pic in a bit, it will be taken down though as I don't want to be associated with such horrible plant-icide). Everything that has survived in my garden must be pretty hardy, judging by the unkempt state in the mystery pic I found from Dec 2012 (it was a student house for about 10yrs - what are the chances that any of them were keen gardeners?) so I expect a lot of it will stay as it can clearly look itself when neglected :o

It's brilliant. Please remember to update us as to whether they turn out to be coming to stay or just for dinner!
