A precautionary tale about POSH ALERTS? How unsuspecting NP had bourgeois foibles outed and scorned.
The personal insights that can be gained from completing internet quizzes, or Internet Quizzes and how they can lead to delusions of grandeur or being outed as POSH.
With my performance on quizzes the best I can hope for are delusions of adequacy.
Thanks for all the positive thoughts. Been to pick up DD and bring her here so she can go in tomorow.
Anyhoo, for music-loving NPs have I recommended this site yet. It's not Spotify, but it's free, user-friendly and you get videos to look at.There is no honour to be had in not knowing a thing that can be known - Danny Baker0 -
Positive thoughts please. DD going into hospital for an op tomorrow.
Thoughts and prayers on her behalf, zag. Please do keep us posted.lostinrates wrote: »I'm not saying any thing. I don't think you two are the best pair. But I do think you are both nice and could be nice friends and prowling buddies.
Are you implying that there is a pair of NP whom you consider to have more promise of future nuptuals than lemonjelly and Nikkster? And if so, why are you not winding said NP up about it on the thread?lemonjelly wrote: »After much consideration, I put forward that there would need to be a chapter on fly swatting...
Of course! How could I have forgotten?Do you know anyone who's bereaved? Point them to https://www.AtaLoss.org which does for bereavement support what MSE does for financial services, providing links to support organisations relevant to the circumstances of the loss & the local area. Tyre performance in the wet deteriorates rapidly below about 3mm tread - change yours when they get dangerous, not just when they are nearly illegal (1.6mm).
Oh, and wear your seatbelt. My kids are only alive because they were wearing theirs when somebody else was driving in wet weather with worn tyres.0 -

Good. Trouble is, my knowledge of places in and around Oxford is at least 15 years out of date. Do we have any NP who can suggest a venue?
For starters, lemonjelly deserves someone[STRIKE] much nicer than me[/STRIKE] lovely and so do I, although not necessarily each other. He is a sweet pea. I've always been a bit [STRIKE]difficult[/STRIKE] liable to give up too much power, and I'm certain I'm now carrying a lot of luggage/ bad habits from my last relationship and could do with a decent bloke to help me unlearn a lot of bad habits about appeasing and placating a controlling man.
Plus after years in mushroom exile, I'm not giving up curry so I need a man who will respect my likes and dislikes whether his are the same or not!
Corrected that for you.lostinrates wrote: »For the record I don't see me getting to a meet if one were planned very soon.
So who's interested? Have we got any London and/or Inner Herts people? I'm not sure that lemonjelly, Nikkster and me is enough people for an official NP meet, but with a few more it would be worth sorting something out.Do you know anyone who's bereaved? ( I used to be so good at dating. I'm wasted as a married woman.)
The lesson is difficult if it involves unlearning giving up stuff unhealthily. If I ever get into another relationship, I hope to do better about that one.lemonjelly wrote: »On another note, is missk alright? Just feels like ages since we've heard from her.
I was thinking about her today too. Hope she's OK.Do you know anyone who's bereaved? Yes yes. Both those. What - get it in writing?
Oh Nikkster.... It's "Don't give up who you are just because you and he are not identical." Oh, and lesson two is "Listen, try to understand and respond to legitimate concerns, but DON'T grovel and promise to change when he is being unreasonable." (Same lessons apply to both genders, but I've put "he" here because you're a straight female.)Do you know anyone who's bereaved? Lovely. The options as I see them are evening in a pub (without children) or wait for nicer weather later in the year and do Saturday daytime at an outdoor venue (maybe with children, especially if there's more than one NP with kids to bring - mine and michaels's,for example).

.... being outed as POSH.Tonight I went out to dinner ....current Board Director at a nearby table....
That's posh - eating at the same place a Board Director would eat at.
I've never eaten anywhere and seen anybody from work ... not at the kebab shop, the burger van OR the local cheap curry house!0 -
BBC4 - documentary exploring the human quest for certainty and sound reasoning.
Professor Dave Cliff asks just how logical are we really and can humans stay ahead.
Looks quite interesting.0 -

Sounds like my Masters degree.
We're not logical, it's just an aspiration. Science doesn't deliver absolute truths, just claims that have high truthlikeness.
I studied whether there really were scientific laws and if so what they were (or if Nature was organised so they weren't needed). And whether there were laws of behaviour . The weirdest bit I remember was learning that we (or our ancestors) used to have emotions that are extinct now. :eek:There is no honour to be had in not knowing a thing that can be known - Danny Baker0
