The owners LOVED it, which is the important thing. It also worked with the orange blanket beautifully.
Would I choose it? No, but that's why interiors are fairly personal!
Edit: I also think she had a hard job, the house was pretty nice before, the owners had a keen sense of style, I loved their acid/chartreuse sofa. The books as decoration upset my sensibilities a little though...books are for loving, not looking at.
Very true. The owners did seem to absolutely love what she had done, and that is definitely the most important thing.0 -
All the best for tomorrow, Zag.“I could see that, if not actually disgruntled, he was far from being gruntled.” - P.G. Wodehouse0

Just dropping in after another few busy days.
Good luck for tomorrow Zag.
Re. cricket - I heard an interview with KP during the Tests in Australia. If I recall it correctly, he was being asked why he kept hitting daft shots and getting out that way when the need for careful innings was so obvious. He basically said that he plays the way he plays, and the distinct impression I got from the interview was that KP wasn't a full team member, prepared to sacrifice individualism for the greater team good.
Now, I don't know if that is truly what he said or meant, but if it's true then it's a pity he's gone but probably right. England needed a steady set of runs rather than risk-taking.0 -

I am used to consultation with all staff unionised/non unionised too and as I have said respect the TUs I have worked with. I have experience of the employee representatives models and found them wanting.
Unless there is investment in making it a democratic process and investment in developing and releasing 'reps' to communicate/consult with their constituencies they may give the illusion of inclusive but is a helpful device that can render "meaningful consultation" into a whitewash.
Have seen this - engaged Electoral Reform Society etc etc to facilitate - but it is hard to compete with the multimillion £ infrastructure that is professional bodies/TU/Royal Colleges and suspect the venture was not motivated by a real desire to have a challenging and enlightened dialogue with the workforce;).0 -
Sending positive thoughts Zag xxWe made it! All three boys have graduated, it's been hard work but it shows there is a possibility of a chance of normal (ish) life after a diagnosis (or two) of ASD. It's not been the easiest route but I am so glad I ignored everything and everyone and did my own therapies with them.
Eldests' EDS diagnosis 4.5.10, mine 13.1.11 eekk - now having fun and games as a wheelchair user.0 -
I didn't see the design programme, but then I "don't get" interior design and think it's all poncey nonsense.... so I've not enjoyed seeing the bits I did see of the other programmes.
I still think it's poncey nonsense ....
Give me some white walls; curtains that fit the windows and meet in the middle and a big comfy cushion and I'm done.0 -
Oooh - there's an idea. What other chapters would there be? Any further suggestions?
A precautionary tale about POSH ALERTS? How unsuspecting NP had bourgeois foibles outed and scorned.

Hello Zag,
My best wishes for a good outcome and recovery.0 -
