Never thought of that.... what happens to the rest of the ox?

We used to sometimes have a can of oxtail soup and some bread toasted on the fire for supper when I was growing up. Soup and toast, sitting on the floor in front of the fire.

I always assumed that oxtail was just cows tails, now we don't keep oxen as draft animals any more.

    Edit: cross-posted with lir.

There we go of course, castrated bulls, became steers and were used for draughts and they are oxen.

    Head full of holes.

    I usually admire your posts.

I feel sorry that this one warranted a jumping with joy smiley. Think its time for a NP meet up (aka you need another outing).

Have you thought of Shopmobility? Only short hires though. I guess if I was on my own I'd be thinking of using them in town, but currently it's easier to have OH in charge of the wheelchair. He fortunately isn't a Schumacher, though that does sound fun I don't think my back would take the various "Designer Pavements" in the city centre - cobbles are just awful! And those things to alert blind folks to edge of road at crossings - pure hell in a wheel chair! Surely there could be something alternate that doesn't hurt one kind of disability while helping another? :o

Oh god yes! We've got them in our town centre now and the first time we went up after they did it, I said to the boys what an annoying feature for wheelchair users.

My biggest bug bear is kerbs which have been lowered but the dip is so great, the foot rests scrape on the floor if you go forwards into it, or gives your back a jarring if you reverse off the pavement...that and cars parking on the only bit of road where there is a drop kerb.

I think all shopkeepers and council planners should go out in wheelchairs and see how difficult it is to actually get about, some of the shops here (with WH Smiths being worse) are a nightmare to get around, so bad we either don't even attempt it or we give up halfway round as yet another temporary display has blocked up a perfectly decent sized walkway.

The Schumacher experience is fun if it still feels controlled, sometimes it is blooming scary..but at least the boys are having fun and getting a different kind of exercise to the normal boring football or rounders :rotfl:
We made it! All three boys have graduated, it's been hard work but it shows there is a possibility of a chance of normal (ish) life after a diagnosis (or two) of ASD. It's not been the easiest route but I am so glad I ignored everything and everyone and did my own therapies with them.
Eldests' EDS diagnosis 4.5.10, mine 13.1.11 eekk - now having fun and games as a wheelchair user.

    Scooby dog bed update.

The damn thing is so popular we are going to have to start phoning the discount shop to see if they get any more in. Big dog and dog dog squeeze onto it together. Dog dog consistantly chooses it OVER furniture.....a first ever in her life.

DH thinks we should get a couple more, one for another sitting room and one for upstairs. When big dog goes we're going to let kiwi and dog dog slept upstairs BUT not in our bed.

So, PB... I ran the compat database again, there was a problem, I ran CCleaner, I rebooted, I turned off PB, I rebooted, I ran the compact database, there was a problem, I rebooted, ran it again, it completed, I ran CCleaner, I rebooted, I ran CCleaner, I did the compact database 2 more times (both successful), I ran CCleaner, I rebooted, I reenabled PB, I loaded RM, I went to the gweek house ...... and the only history it's offering me is the info from yesterday when I first loaded it.

I've even been to the PB forums 3x to see if there's a fix, an update, anybody saying it's not supported... but no clues there.

Going to fiddle some more.... used to be "work in a bee" somewhere, that's disappeared.

Uninstalled it completely, reinstalled from scratch, still no different.
*rses... that was a bit handy. I can still see changes where I've viewed something before, but it'd affect what I see if I looked elsewhere.
    *rses. That's the phrase.

This whole process and method really makes me SPIT with anger. These public servants should be there to serve, not to cause obstructions and objections.

Needs to be more friendly - if they'd just said "No, not that bit, how about pushing that back 2', turning that bit, using this roof .....?" it shouldn't be repeated expensive submissions hoping. It should be simple:

Hello, I want to build a house
What do you have in mind?
    This.....
Yes/No .... because of this bit *points*, and this bit *points* and that bit *points*
OK .... so if I do those changes, that's OK....?
    Yes
OK, see you next week, with the new drawings.

    What PN said.

    Yes. Let's.
Do you know anyone who's bereaved? Point them to https://www.AtaLoss.org which does for bereavement support what MSE does for financial services, providing links to support organisations relevant to the circumstances of the loss & the local area. (Link permitted by forum team)
Tyre performance in the wet deteriorates rapidly below about 3mm tread - change yours when they get dangerous, not just when they are nearly illegal (1.6mm).
Oh, and wear your seatbelt. My kids are only alive because they were wearing theirs when somebody else was driving in wet weather with worn tyres.

It's been the same with Catholics saying the reason they got pregnant outside of marriage is because condoms aren't allowed..... er, no, neither's sex outside of marriage. I figured if you were going to break ONE rule, it might as well be BOTH those!

    I've always thought that too.

Glad to hear you're feeling a bit better Gen :D

Sorry to hear about your wheelchair Sue but fascinated by the SENCO meeting!
