Sue, 're wheelchair. Somewhere near you there should be a charity that offers advice to disabled people. They should be able to suggest ways forward. For example..
Local grant making trusts who fund people in need in your area.
Local charities able to offer a crisis loan to buy one.
Other mobility aids providers, probably not for profit, who can lend you a chair or help repair yours.
Local disability groups whose members may have a chair they don't need. Please stay safe in the sun and learn the A-E of melanoma: A = asymmetry, B = irregular borders, C= different colours, D= diameter, larger than 6mm, E = evolving, is your mole changing? , though currently it seems to stay folded up on its own. Really nice thing about it is it's so humungously big it actually shades shoulders and back too. Other is rafia, with big blowsy fabric roses with a few feathers - bought for DD1's wedding. Save that one for best at present - though after a another year or so it'll probably become the lottie hat of choice on windless days.
But for more everyday or if it's a bit breezy I have one that is straw and has a brim that is upturned -I think the shape is called Breton? It's taken me through 2 graduations and a masters ceremony for DDs. And now I wear it for gardening, and to think OH complained about me buying it prob around 20 years ago now! Plus have a bright pink cotton trilby but it's been worn so much it's really grubby and it's supposedly not washable or dry cleanable, though might try washing it come summer - kill or cure!Have a couple of cheapo market straw hats at the caravan for emergency use and to lend out to visitors who forget that just occasionally the sun shines in Wales and it can be too bl88dy hot without a hat if you want to barbie on the patio.
I really don't want to pin mine back as the point is to keep face and cleavage (well as much of it as possible) shaded.
Pin it back I might as well not bother.
I have tried upturning brim but then I just look decidedly odd. Its not a shape that suits me.. I need the flat out very very slightly down turned.
I have a mulberry brown hat for autumn winter, with stripped pheasant feathers. Not as glam as a pt would be, nor as beautifully coloured as bugslet's, but was perfect for going racing, I could lead up in it, stand by the rails or get on to owners and trainers or winners without feeling too shabby. (Do I miss racing? I don't think so....maybe. I think I miss getting dressed up which could be lots of things I don't do any more)
I also have a black fedora I wore a lot in town, It was great with a Burberry and I could get my hair under it just and it looks ok day AND night, which is quite impressive I think.
I have a few straw hats, too many really. Do you know, shamefully ATM I cannot remember what other hats I have ATM.
Oh, besides a couple of trilbies invarious sedate shades, likewise beaglers, a patey (dislike that one) , a couple of toppers ( one high one low, both black) and a grey and a black normal show jumper protective with flesh harness (my ridden show hat of choice over the patey and I rode in them at home) and a polo hat.
Bozarre
Y I also have a cap with a radio built in. None of these are really that glam.
I should have a look in my hat boxes.0 -
I'm feeling better today too? Maybe the sun helps? Is it out for everyone else too?
Also I'm plotting a an for me.
I'm considering trying to bulk book some massages and/or poncey do nothing but pander to your soul 'pseudo' well being treatments. But not build book as in lots on one day but as in one every second day for a period of two weeks or something like that.
I don't know whether to try and do that most locally in the back room of a hairdressers or whether to go some where decent and what kind of bundle to try and negotiate. Its a bit ' pandering' for my experience. While I have done the cheapy spa a couple of times and hand a few treat ments and various places.
I want a health farm sort of experience without going away. If Mohammed cannot go to the mountain............0 -

And/or ... extreme measures, if you can position the hat in precisely the right shape, spray it with some craft/similar glue or something like that to stiffen its joints. I mean spray it and leave it while it's staked out on a table.... not to put it on then spray glue around0 -
PasturesNew wrote: »I like to make them so there's still the soft part. Dry/crispy round the edges, but definitely the soft bit. Serving 4 I used to cut it into 8 pieces as it worked out in our family that then those who liked the crispy bits had 4 corners to choose from (and could have 2 corners) while those who like the soft could choose 2 middle bits, or somebody who liked both could have one of each... and, for us, with mum not liking Yorkshires, it'd all work out perfectly matched.
We were a family of 6 who all liked it. I think they were cut into 12 (3x4). My ideal was to get both the middle pieces and have no edge at all, but it was rare than nobody else wanted one of the middle bits.ukmaggie45 wrote: »Other is rafia, with big blowsy fabric roses with a few feathers - bought for DD1's wedding. I am probably being very dim and shamefully ignorant, but what do you mean by a lottie hat?Do you know anyone who's bereaved? Point them to https://www.AtaLoss.org which does for bereavement support what MSE does for financial services, providing links to support organisations relevant to the circumstances of the loss & the local area. Tyre performance in the wet deteriorates rapidly below about 3mm tread - change yours when they get dangerous, not just when they are nearly illegal (1.6mm).
Oh, and wear your seatbelt. My kids are only alive because they were wearing theirs when somebody else was driving in wet weather with worn tyres.0 -

Groupon often have deals where you buy 10 treatments for the price of 5.
I would think you are looking at a 50% discount if you are prepared to block buy. You really need to try one before you know if you want 10. Gyms often have treatment rooms and so do posher hotels.I'm a Forum Ambassador on the housing, mortgages & student money saving boards. Fifty percent? Starts to sound good.
I have found a very not posh hotel locally that has a spa that gets decent reviews from people saying they are return customers.. The reviews start things like 'remembering this is only two star' and most of the gripes are about standard of hotel...so not really applicable.
Fifty is a good bench mark to aim for, even if I get less.0
