I make leftovers just me sometimes as a plan, like...when making soup/ gazpacho I'll often make enough to last me from mon to fri lunch time at least one meal a day so I can think that's dealt with( I used to basically live off gazpacho in summer weekdays) or cook a larger piece of fish/ meat than I need to use a bit of next day or day after in something else, like a pasta/ soufllee/ salad or what ever.
That's the thing - it's not leftovers if it's planned. Leftovers are the things you didn't expect to have leftover after a meal's eaten.

Years ago I had a boyfriend whose mum came from Yorkshire. I'd go there for Sunday lunch - and she'd get her Yorkshire out. It was one big one, almost black, flat as a pancake and still completely under 1/2" of fat/oil that had to be drained off into a jug before she could get to the Yorkshire to slice it up. Worst I've ever seen/had!!

Sounds awful. I do like the "one big one" concept, though. My mum used to make one big one when we were little. Some people liked the puffy/crispy bits round the edge, some people preferred the soft stuff in the middle, and some people liked both. When it was cut into pieces, you were given a choice of "corner", "edge" or "middle". I liked "middle", but you can't get any of that when they're all individual.
Do you know anyone who's bereaved? Point them to https://www.AtaLoss.org which does for bereavement support what MSE does for financial services, providing links to support organisations relevant to the circumstances of the loss & the local area. (Link permitted by forum team)
Tyre performance in the wet deteriorates rapidly below about 3mm tread - change yours when they get dangerous, not just when they are nearly illegal (1.6mm).
Oh, and wear your seatbelt. My kids are only alive because they were wearing theirs when somebody else was driving in wet weather with worn tyres.

I love huge straw hats but the brims always go droopy. :o
Long hat pins .... across the front?

Can look stylish in glossy magazines.... if I did that I'd look like a scarecrow that'd used a rusty nail.

I think of them as being what is 'left over' from that meal, planned or otherwise.

You're right though, I don't get that many unplanned left overs. I don't make many myself and trying to get unbeaten food from a meal that DH or RP are at is like trying to remove a steak from a wolf enclosure at times.

Left overs are usually nicer than the first time meal IMO.

When I make a Yorkie I don't measure anything, I whip it up, shove it in the fridge; take it out later and add a splash of cold water, re-beat it. Stick it into the hot oil/tin, shove it in the oven ... and then it tends to be a mail-biting session as it rises... and rises.... and you wonder if it'll become stuck to the roof of the oven or the shelf above.

I like to make them so there's still the soft part. Dry/crispy round the edges, but definitely the soft bit. Serving 4 I used to cut it into 8 pieces as it worked out in our family that then those who liked the crispy bits had 4 corners to choose from (and could have 2 corners) while those who like the soft could choose 2 middle bits, or somebody who liked both could have one of each...

lir, I'll have to try and persuade a passing driver to post it on here, never worked out how to transfer pics from digital camera/phone to a forum ( or anywhere for a matter of fact:o).

If they are on your computer, then you need to set yourself up with a https://www.photobucket.com account. It's free. Once you've uploaded to there (which isn't hard, I promise) it's fairly easy to copy and paste the link over here.

I would love to see your hat. It sounds beautiful!

I now always keep those 15p packets of Yorkshire mix in the cupboard. As I didn't used to have milk in the house (for years) it was easy as the packets only require one egg and water.

I'm buying milk at the moment - for weetabix - so could theoretically make proper Yorkshires if I wanted.

Sometimes I'll do Yorkshire, sometimes toad in the hole - and sometimes Yorkshires with herbs, and I've even done some with roasted tomatoes/onions.

Usually served with mash and beans.

One 15p pack instructions say use one egg. What I do is use half the pack with my smallest egg.

I liked that hat, it's quite dull, but the brief was autumnal straw, everyday rather than flashy.

I hate making fabric hats, this is the one and only. Which I dislike immensely.
