I've been applying for graduate jobs recently
Not got very far as yet. Not finance though!
Weak in what way? Basic skills for the job etc?
I think most people know how to BS their way through the application forms for these things, and know the things to say on a telephone interview. The filtering is probably pretty ineffective for that reason I'd have thought. But then how do you differentiate between thousands of people?
They were all pretty generally unimpressive, using inappropriate language, not really establishing any rapport, generally a bit wet. I tend to try to ignore that sort of stuff and focus on skills but it is difficult to ignore a complete absence of gravitas. In any case when we started to dig there was also very little substance, a lot of rambling, one of them confused himself in the middle of sentences several times and they all gave terrible examples of things they had done to demonstrate their skills.
For instance, when asked a question about exercising judgement in the face of competing priorities (a drivelish question I know) the answer one chose demonstrated a complete lack of judgement about what would be appropriate to talk about in an interview (I don't want to go into specifics as it would be identifiable to the candidate but they basically said they intentionally avoided doing some difficult work so they could spend more time socialising with their mates - who would tell an interviewer something like that!!).
I was expecting them to all be polished as I think most students get coaching for this kind of stuff but maybe as suggested that just gets you through the routine filtering processes.0 -

PN, you'd have had to lie down in a darkened room if you'd seen the one I wore to Mr Bugs funeral, Philip Treacy original, black velvet, with a huge sweep of irridescent feathers across the front. If it hadn't cost two months mortgage, I'd wear it more often, instead I view it as a work of art to be appreciated occasionally.
And I'm in the middle of making a friend a lime green ( her choice ) sinamay cloche - now that is scary!:rotfl:
Ooooh, hats! :j:rotfl:
Loving the sound of your Philip Treacy hat, bugslet. Drool drool! Not sure I'd go for a lime green cloche, but it's a colour that I just can't wear anyway. Currently waiting for my latest hat to arrive, bought in a fit of extravagance in John Lewis sale... Kept looking at it, then suddenly it was down to Only 1 Left so I succumbed to temptation. Wouldn't have paid full price for it though - I'm such a cheapskate!
Red felt bowler with black feather and red felt flower decoration. Nice every day hat. I really feel the cold without a hat in winter, especially when we're at the lottie for a few hours! In summer I have to wear broad brimmed hats as need to protect the skin on my face which in the past has been over-exposed, mainly while sailing (never been one to just lie out in the sun to get a tan like so many of my school acquaintances did).

Even in one company, it's possible to prioritise differently on different days because the environment has changed.
Too open a question.avoided doing some difficult work so they could spend more time socialising with their mateschewmylegoff wrote: »I was expecting them to all be polished as I think most students get coaching for this kind of stuff but maybe as suggested that just gets you through the routine filtering processes.
I turn up, you've got my CV, see I can do the job, ask me questions about doing the job.0 -

When do people think we may get snow, if at all?
I have a strawberry I ripe enough (just) to consider eating in the garden this morning. And a poppy just opening. The first wall flower is also coming out. And some of the
Later japonicas. (My first is almost over!). We have a red rose in bud, and I saw a lady bird in the garden the other day.
Very odd.0 -
You also lost me at clipboard - I have no idea where that is.....ha, now I'm making you cry.
So you never need to know "where" it is - it's just the PC remembering something for you for a little bit.
When you click on the "direct link" option, it takes the link and remembers it. You don't have to "copy" it, just clicking automatically does that bit for you.
So, then you want to paste that link somewhere else (here), so you come here and press Ctrl-V and it appears by magic.
Does that help?0 -

I have a real problem with summer hats.
I love huge straw hats but the brims always go droopy.
Then I cannot see out and i end up wearing them less and less, which defeats the purpose.0 -

Sacrilege.
I love Yorkshires
EVERYBODY loves Yorkshires. Don't they?
I love pasta too. I'm really not fussy though. I bought pickled walnuts to try and forgot to do anything with them.Everything that is supposed to be in heaven is already here on earth.
