Dog walk this morning was impossible.
We just came home.
The ground is so sodden its impossible to walk normally. The girls were having difficulty, and lurching in a way no good for big dog's back ( nor surgery site I guess) only the little guy was coping at all and even he wasn't having fun.
Even the little chicken house is wet on the ground, I'll need to get them some bark.0 -

I tried to push H into telling them that we don't email quotations to new customers because as a rule, we don't, especially when they are local. Upshot was that the 'customer' definitely wants it emailed. .
Every now and then we have to quote our main customer for trips into 2017 - 2019, it's always a complete finger in the air guess as heavens knows what fuel and ferries will cost, if there will be new routes on ferries available - currently I can't ship on the Western Channel at all - and if there will be changes in the countries I can run through. We tend to make a best guess and add a lot of riders to the end of the quote.PasturesNew wrote: »What I love about all these obese people is that I used to be at the top end of "normal" for weight ..... Bloomin' marvellous
Always happy to oblige PN.
One of only two successful diets I have been on was the fast 5 diet
http://www.fast-5.org/
there is a free downloadable book. Basically restrict your eating to within a 5 hour timeframe, mine was 15 .00 - 20.00, with a bit of flex when I ate out. It worked really well as once I start eating, I carry on. If I don't start, I don't particularly feel hungry.0 -
Apparently I am going to live to 86.
12 years of education will add only half a year. I am tackling esperanto for no good reason this year, maybe that will add a week!
The biggest thing that will add to my life is giving up choclate, but that's a hard one. I don't smoke nor drink that much, choclate is my pleasure in life.
Cutting back on hours worked would add a year ( I think if CK cut back, he'd probably add about 5 years).
BP coming down anyway, so I may live a bit longer than 86 anyway.0 -

Very sadly, Steve Evans passed away last night.
He was a marvellous, inspirational man.
He made me proud to be a wulfrunian.
I didn't know when I posted the above, but he'd been tweeting over the weekend that he was coming to the end of his "journey".
It's such a shame what this vile illness can do.It's getting harder & harder to keep the government in the manner to which they have become accustomed.0 -
I'm trying to reduce portion sizes when cooking meals currently.
I've noticed a couple of times I've made slightly smaller meals, & yet have still felt full & satisfied once I've finished. So I'm trying to extend that by generally eating less 7 days a week.
I hope that this will encourage me to do a bit more, moving about, a bit of strenuous walking, & then progress further...It's getting harder & harder to keep the government in the manner to which they have become accustomed.0 -

It's easy to be put off by the people cycling 100kms and training for marathons and all that rubbish as well as all the crazy diets.
I reckon if you walk a 2-4 miles a day, every day then you'll be as fit as you'll ever need to be. It's cheap (in fact can be money saving if you park more cheaply/walk to work/whatever as a result), low impact, gives a good CV and if you carry your shopping home it's weight bearing too.
If everyone did that 365 days a year and only ate food that came in paper bags then the world would be a happier and healthier place IMHO (still allows for fish and chips you see!).
I've had a horrible day. Horrid anxiety attack from worrying about Mrs
Generali as well as other stuff and 6 back-to-back meetings from 9am-1.30pm featuring at various times the Head of IT, the Chief Investment Officer, the new Chief Investment Officer (who doesn't rate me at all which is a problem in itself), the Head of Group Risk, the Head of Compliance and the Head of Dealing. Not really low key meetings!
Took myself off the Museum of Contemporary Art to calm myself down a bit. Then took Mrs Generali to see American Hustle tonight. What a film! Quite sweary but not that violent considering the subject matter. Very darkly amusing too. Strongly recommend it actually.
And you can't beat a film that manages to combine Delilah (the original Gangster Rap: I saw the knife in my hand...and she laughed no more), Duke Ellington and White Rabbit (I love that song since reading Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas as a student) on the sound track!
Now I'm making a Tarte au Framboise to take to work tomorrow. A colleague and I started a year ago this week and I wanted to take something in for us.0 -
Sorry to hear that, Gen - have a dodgy NP group-hug :grouphug:...much enquiry having been made concerning a gentleman, who had quitted a company where Johnson was, and no information being obtained; at last Johnson observed, that 'he did not care to speak ill of any man behind his back, but he believed the gentleman was an attorney'.0

Gen, congratulations on having good coping strategies. AND on going out with mrs gen. I should imagine its easy to get out of the habit under the circumstances (good ness knows for and I have ).
Today I have chosen a new submergible solid waste pump for the slurry (fun times) .

Well, dh went to see the other place this morning. It went really well. See, I say I don't like it to you lot and it goes well
. but they seemed to like DH a lot. They saw him at breakfast having called yesterday and before lunch had asked if he were minded to consider them.
Its a realistic prospect in terms of finance I think.

Very sad.
He did an interview for R5L recorded on the phone of Richard Bacon on Monday. Bacon had just popped into the hospital to visit him, but he wanted to one last interview.
I was welling up on the M25.....had to turn the sound down.
A brave, brave and yes a marvellous and inspirational man'In nature, there are neither rewards nor punishments - there are Consequences.'0
