Certainly get fir's input before posting on the blog, but it you do it, then do it soon so you can comment on that blog post in particular, while it's still the top one. Or don't do it at all. I'd be interested to hear what he says.

Pretty sure he will say the same as viva.

Mind you, he has now said I can start telling people on line who the company were now. I get a lot of pms asking me, and only yesterday found out one woman on MSE had been going to use them for something, (hjust servicing i think) and is now warning her circle in the area not to in their Eco houses.

A shame you lot are so far away from us, as I know of a very good and well established eco-heating company up here that comes very highly recommended by a number of people I know.

With winter in Scotland being what it is, and fuel costs being what they are nowadays, probably not surprising that so many have been 'early adopters' in that area.

    Well, lucky warm you!

I think we have something sorted, but its not what we really wanted. Its a compromise, and an expensive one at that,

Ad I have about five or six tonnes of wood pellets sitting about useless:rotfl:

    LOL

    Me, not so much...

I live in a Victorian house in the city centre.

Little room for wood pellets or fancy heating systems.

But I have friends who have installed the systems in their highland houses and swear by them.

I thought he would too. I just thought that on the off chance he said it was OK and you decided to do it, then that post would be the one for maximum impact.

Is there any other way to eat a ready meal????
Do you know anyone who's bereaved? Point them to https://www.AtaLoss.org which does for bereavement support what MSE does for financial services, providing links to support organisations relevant to the circumstances of the loss & the local area. (Link permitted by forum team)
Tyre performance in the wet deteriorates rapidly below about 3mm tread - change yours when they get dangerous, not just when they are nearly illegal (1.6mm).
Oh, and wear your seatbelt. My kids are only alive because they were wearing theirs when somebody else was driving in wet weather with worn tyres.

I swear by dancing, ironing and sex and open fires.

Even the iron can break down....but at least it has a good second purpose. ;)

Actually, the electric heaters aren't doing a bad job at all, and its easier to relax about money when you realise you have less to protect for some reason. How come I wonder?

The kitchen I'm just leaving one on all the time on a low setting and so its always warm, the garden room (where the dogs sleep ) the same. The garden room is low and stays warm, but has a big opening to a high spceilinged room and the heat drifts slowly upstairs, where its not warm, but not frozen, and then we have one in each bedroom as needed.

I think the wretched woodburner needs a new flue liner (we're getting a bit of a smoke smell upstairs sometimes when its lit) so that's a job for next year definitely. :(.

Its been so mild, that although it will be cold soon, it cannot last forever, we know what ever happens we can survive again. :) We've been really incredibly lucky with the weather frankly.

Waiting for electricity schedule to see when they can upgrade us now, for their new wiring.

Pies: top crust only or soggy bottom. Suet, short crust or puff pastry. All good. I make a jolly good chicken and veg pie with gravy (not white sauce). That's top crust, puff pastry. I also do a very nice steak and kidney which is soggy bottom. Never made suet pastry. I might do it this weekend.

I have no idea what to get for DS. He wants something which is not in budget so I think we'll give him some money, but I'm not really happy about the item that he wants to buy - a petrol motored remote control car. Doozer thinks he should be allowed to buy it when he has the money, but it seems such a waste of money.

As a counterpoint, there is plenty of scope for an RC car like that to be a hobby: you can tune them up and add better parts for more speed etc.

A bloke at school used to mess about with those things and ended up with a successful start into an engineering career. No idea how it worked out longer run.

Summer is most definitely here now. Phew, what a scorcher! It's lovely although not very Christmassy. It's mango season which is great, I love a good mango. The supermarket ones in the UK are hopeless, the best ones come from dodgy Indian shops in South London, sent over from the alma mater village in the Old Country. The supermarkets here now sell 'fully ripe' and normal mangos. What a rip off! No excuse for selling unrobe mangos in Aus.

Hopefully not all at the same time....

We have also been talking about revamping our heating system. Replacing some radiators and making the downstairs a proper 2-pipe system rather than the 1-pipe it is currently. When the plumber suggested waiting til January in case something goes wrong, I thought of the rates heating and agreed.

This plumber has been well recommended, which is good. But he also insists on using pucker radiators rather than cheap ones from the likes of Wickes. I'm not sure that Wickes can sell radiators that are that dodgy, can they?
