Much like the poop they poured on the rates household last Xmas. I believe it's called karma.Everything that is supposed to be in heaven is already here on earth.

He wants something which is not in budget so I think we'll give him some money, but I'm not really happy about the item that he wants to buy - a petrol motored remote control car. Doozer thinks he should be allowed to buy it when he has the money, but it seems such a waste of money. I don't even know where he's going to use it! I'd prefer to give him a gift instead but is it a mum's place to decide? I'm still angry about not ever getting a Mr Frosty.
could give him some money and hope that when he has saved up enough to afford it and gets around to actually making the purchasing decision he decides that it's a waste of that money. (not that this worked on me, i bought all manner of totally useless carp when i was 10-15, including a RC car and a stupid CB radio).
that said, pretty much everything i ask for, even now, is met with the response "i'm not getting you that, you'll never use it", so i just say "fine, get me whatever you want for christmas then". i don't know why anyone bothers to ask me what i want for christmas if they aren't prepared to buy it!0 -

It really hasn't.
I picked him up from school and broke the bad news. He told me it was okay, he didn't want it anyway!?
I think he knew it wasn't going to happen. The only RC track I know is in Crystal Palace Park. That's a bit far these days.Everything that is supposed to be in heaven is already here on earth.

Blimey, it's always the same when a new NP thread starts. More rabbit than Sainsbury's.
I can swim a mile if I train up to it. No idea if I could train to do 5 miles. I suspect my technique would need work.
I could never swim a mile. Could swim several lengths of a pool but never been a strong swimmer. I could swim to save myself but never got into it as an enjoyable form of leisure. Always remember my eyes being burned by chlorine when I was a kid. They seem to have less of it in pools now or maybe I was just more sensitive as a child.
As regards food, took a relative to a gastropub the other day and had one of their famous pies, forgetting it would be in a deep dish. As a practical way to serve a dish it's a rubbish idea, about as handy as serving porridge in a string bag with chopsticks to eat it.:eek:There is no honour to be had in not knowing a thing that can be known - Danny Baker0 -

i got my 800m badge when i was younger. i reckon i could swim about 25m these days before sinking. As regards food, took a relative to a gastropub the other day and had one of their famous pies, forgetting it would be in a deep dish. ask for a spoon?
was it a proper pie, or just a dish of meat with some pastry on top. the latter really winds me up.0 -
The pie in a dish is really upsetting to some people.
Its very popular in our local 'chichi' gastropub. It fundamentally upsets the more 'umble farmer types who cannot get past the fact that as far as they are concerned they are being served their food in what they see as a dog food dish.0 -

You want to leave the car in a quiet road like Mossbank Avenue, then arrange for a mini cab to pick you up and take you to the airport. Should be a £5 ride. Best done with an old car, in case the locals take umbrage. No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?0 -
I went into a pub kitchen once.... they had a tray of pie lids sitting out. Those lids aren't even cooked on the pie.... just added to the top at the last minute.
Meaty, gravy pies.... can't beat them.
I was watching Paul Hollywood do a Pork/Cider/Apple pie at the weekend... he cooked all the filling first.... then it was cooled in the fridge. Then he tipped it into a dish, cold, just put a pie crust on top and baked it.
I thought that seemed a bit 'dangerous' as the pie's then been reheated once, which would mean you couldn't keep the rest of the pie and nuke it the next day ....
And he went down in my estimation for not putting a pie bottom on.
My favourite pastry is suety.0 -
