    I have nice friends.

A friend called to ask how big dog was and I mentioned I was worried because she'd had difficulty getting into the car, and friend pointed out their car was lower and the seats go down so she could have the whole of the back if I cannot get her in mine. Obviously, the others wouldn't fit in, but for the drive I'm worried about only she needs to fit.

Parcel's come. Bit of an odd one... she said "it came last night, husband was in" - so you'd have thought he'd have either run it straight round (25 paces and can see my car's there from the door), or (more normal), to point to my door access to the driver.

    Oh well.... got it now.

WE (DW) are still waiting for various things, most importantly a bit for the car which needs fitting if we are going to make it to my sister's on boxing day. UPS tracking just says on van for delivery today, no doubt it will come in the 20 minutes when DW goes to pick up the DKs from school.

Missed a parcel yesterday, amazon email to say it has been left with next door. Go next door at about 6pm, lights on, one car in the path, no-one answering the door. Go out about 7pm and the parcel is sitting in a puddle in the porch! No effort made to ring the door bell and hand it to us, just dumped in a puddle. Our porch is covered by the eaves but only has two walls, one of which contains the front door. Parcel left in the corner that is exposed on two sides, so guaranteed to get rained on.:mad: These really are the least obliging neighbours.

Parcel soaked cardboard, inside box a bit damp. Luckily the item was enclosed in plastic, but not completely sealed. It was a laptop battery, if it had been a mobile phone it would have risked water damage.

    What numpties silvercar.

Most of our small parcels get left in one of two places at the front of the house and a note put to that effect through the door. Lots go next door though. I get lots of theirs too. We get each others post too.

Its a point of annoyance for them in particular but......they use a name that's like our house name and our house has had this name for a coupla hundred years at least.

I actually hate the house name and would change it like a shot but for the fact I don't think it would go down very well at all locally. We benefit from very good community relations so I feel it would be foolhardy to impact on that. Many people round feel great affection for our funny little house and a personal connection to it, so a name change might be insensitive to them.

You people outside of haulage world, you have no idea how much training it takes to do just that..... :D I'd like to point out at this point that Bugs Transport doesn't deliver to houses;)

I think I missed all the news on Big Dog, is he getting better, what was/is wrong with him?

Her ;). I don't do boy pets. Kiwi is an anomaly (because I had two girls already it felt sensible to not add more oestrogen...I wanted a girl, but I have seen the girl who was the girl pick of litter and the breeder and I were both gooey over her.....but We definitely got the dog for us....)

She has cancer. A lump came up and a needle aspiration was bad news. A very aggressive form of cancer...lump popped up recently but these things tend to move very fast IME with big dogs.

She's booked in for it to be removed open Christmas Eve, but suddenly is very up and down hill. On Wednesday she went to have a bath and found it really hard to get in the car afterwards, and...since last bath, what...four weeks ago? She has little red bits over her back...not fleas...my guises is that its in her skin now.

yesterday was bouncing around the field. Today she seems happy, but has some very small amount of discharge from under her tail which is concerning. I'm not sure now its worth the op. I might take her in and let her go then.

I'll make a decision what to do with the vet on Christmas Eve. She is not a stoic girl, I would prefer she goes before SHE knows she has more than the bad back. (Bad back is an ongoing problem which would become a decision in itself eventually, within a year I would imagine)

She looks beautiful.:) If you were not a dog person, you'd she her shiny coat and wiggy tail and nice wet shiny nose and not know anything was wrong. We'll seThe vet might suggest we just bring her home and take her back in a couple of weeks now.....

She is on the left. :)

    Oh no:(

FWIW, that would be my attitude, I'm not a hang on at all costs person, just as far as makes sense for the dog.

I've had two with cancer, one a soft tissue on her leg, which was removed successfully and two year later, no recurrance, another had haemangio sarcoma, so ended up with multiple tumours that were likely to rupture at some point, I let him go on the early side, to save suffering later - it's a difficult call, but if you feel it's the right thing, then it probably is.

Had one put to sleep years ago on Xmas Eve, but he was 17 and old age had caught up - still felt a bit mean though, especially as it was 1999 and a few days before I had told him he would be a millenium dog.

She does indeed look very beautiful. Give her a pat from me and woofs from my all female (just the way it's happened) pack.

    That's a lovely picture, lir :)

Its day 2 of my seasonal time off. Didn't do a great deal yesterday apart from meeting a friend for a pint. At 10.30 a.m. They were in town for their Xmas do but due to transport issues arrived rather early for a midday kick off.
Today has been slightly more productive. Watched homes under the hammer, picked up my pink filing cabinet, also remembered I had a voucher for a free tester tin of paint + paint brush which I've been carrying around for ages. Good job I remembered as it expires today.
Next job: work out which room pink filing cabinet will live in and decant paperwork into it :)

Ah ha - drivers have special training for that - I wondered how they could manage it so sucessfully - I wondered if they parked round the corner starting first thing in the morning and once they saw you going out they pounced.

LIR I am sure you will make the best decision in the circumstances.
    I think....
