  • So do you think my soft appeal is good to go then if I add on the extra bit about it being my one and only appeal to PE as suggested by Umkomaas above? Should I shorten it a bit as well?
  • I'm delighted to learn that a POPLA appeal will cost Parking Eye some money! How long do I get to make the appeal to POPLA from when I first get my POPLA code, is it 35 days? And are these working days or consecutive days?

pretty sure its 28 days from the date of the code, but the newbies thread will explain it

the point here being you want it in within their deadline and with the xmas shutdown you need to get it in asap, if not before ;)

Agree with Redx. Confirmed as 28 days from date of the rejection letter.

Do not take your eye off the deadline ball, there is absolutely no 'give' in it whatsoever. Miss it and that's your golden chance gone, then you're starting to have to climb a hill.

  • So do I email the soft appeal after adding that extra bit on that you suggested earlier or should it be posted in the normal mail? Should I shorten it a bit or doesn't it matter?

the soft appeal goes to the PPC, but I thought this was POPLA, so its the killer appeal this time

I think both is better than one or none, but you can try online first as they will acknowledge it by email, that way you know its there, if no acknowledgement comes you can phone for acknowledgement , and plan C is mail it with proof of posting as a last resort

@AF - you've taken us 'off track' a bit with questions about POPLA. I've just re-read the thread and you're not there yet.

So concentrate on your soft appeal to PE (they too give you a 28-day deadline) so do get on with sending it off - it's fine as it is, it won't be accepted, just get your hands on the POPLA code.

Send it any way you wish, probably best insurance is email and snail (with free proof of posting from the PO). Given the time of year, snail is likely to be delayed, so make sure the email is sent for sure.

And remember the deadlines. Once you get the POPLA code, then follow my post #25.

  • No I'm making the soft appeal at this time, but I was also just thinking ahead for the POPLA stage as I know the sole purpose of the soft appeal is simply to get a POPLA code. I still have until January 1st to make the soft appeal but after today the charge goes up from £60 to £100.

I posted a draft soft appeal earlier today (on the previous page) and was looking for confirmation that it was OK to send provided I add the extra bit suggested by Umkomaas earlier. Should I shorten it a bit or doesn't that matter at this stage?

So what did you mean by "killer appeal"?

    1. Don't worry about the charge going up - you're going to pay nothing, so it's irrelevant.

    2. I said in post #28 that it's fine to go (obviously with the added point - especially as it was I who suggested it!).

    3. The 'killer appeal' - I think Redx is talking about the 'killer points' in an appeal at POPLA - particularly the 'no genuine pre-estimate of loss' and 'not having a contract to pursue charges' appeal points - they always win for us. Check them out in the NEWBIES sticky and the POPLA Decisions sticky.

    4. Send that appeal, I know it's next year, but Jan 1st is hurtling towards you :)

Why didn't you simply appeal online to PE (as it says on their ticket)? Postal delays could scupper you! Some light reading:
