Price for a New Fuse Panel ?

Anyone tell me how much it costs for a new domestic fuse panel ? We only have 3 trip switches in our panel and recently when we had some wall lights put in, the electrician said he had to move over the circuit in the panel to the other RCD which meant that when one light bulb blows the sockets go off too. We want to have our lights and sockets on a separate trip switch so it probably means we need a new panel and I think they are not cheap. The last one we had was brilliant as it had 2 separate light trip switches for each side of the bungalow and a separate one for sockets and another for the shower. This panel seems quite a small cheap one, so needs changing.

Anyone know the prices ?

It's not just a case of a new consumer nit. The installer has to make sure it complies with current regulations so may mean undertaking earth bonding works on the gas and water supplies, which can add to the cost.

    Realistically, allow £350 tp £600.

He is right :T:T, figures are good too.

So, you no have a ballpark to work in.
Get quotes from sparkies in your area, particularly the 1 thats seen your system.

No one from here can give a figure of less tolerance than phill said

Why such a big gap in the price estimate ? £250 difference is nearly double the base price !

It depends where you are in the country, the size of unit you require (whether you want any spare capacity in the unit), plus any remedial work that may be required to get a certificated installation.

I have no doubt if I had just said £350 exactly, you would come back here after getting quotes complaining that it was £250 more than I suggested.

No not really, but if you had said "starting at £350, it could be higher according to how big your property is, how many rooms you have .....etc.", I would have used that as a starting point but £600 seems a lot considering we live in a bungalow with limited circuits (only one floor and 6 rooms in all if you count the hallway but we only have 3 fuses at the moment in the panel but obviously need separate circuits for the lighting and sockets. We don't even have an electric shower just an electric cooker, just a mixer shower off the combi boiler.

But we don't know where you live. Since labour is probably more than 80% of the cost, getting this work done in central London will obviously cost much more than in rural Yorkshire.
So there could well be a difference of £250 nationally. Nobody can price a job like this up without seeing it.
PS: it's called a consumer unit, not a fuse panel (no fuses in it).

Sorry, not an electrician so didn't know obviously the correct name for it. I live in Walsall in the West Midlands. :o

By the way, I didn't ask for a price for the labour, only the unit price.;)

Which is not made very clear in your first post. Since you can't fit it yourself, why would you want to buy and supply it?
Price varies enormously between the cheap Chinese stuff and an established and reliable brand.
You can look up the CU prices on any website such as TLC, Screwfix etc, but your sparky will get a wholesale price.
