If a PS4 is borked on arrival then Sony will replace it within a few days. Plenty of threads on the PS forums where people have had issues and Sony have replaced any broken consoles.

I'm not sure why you think if you console is broken all it's good for is a paperweight? Send it back and get a new one, yeah it's a bit of a pain but provided Sony come good replacing them I don't see the issue.

My PS4 has been absolutely fine.

Yes I know Sony will replace any that are faulty and I'm aware that not every console is faulty, i wasn't disputing that.
Its just been misinterpreted what I said.
  • Just pointing out that if it breaks you'll be left with an 'expensive paperweight' is a bit, well, untrue ;):)

Very true, I think people dwell on it at the moment as Supply is short \ limited so perceive that they will have to wait longer for a replacement, rather than think of it as a permanent paperweight..

  • PS4 is much better, microsoft has a very bad reputation for unreliable consoles, well all hardware and sortware.

Sony has much longer history from beofre most of us were born, they have very good reputation for reliablity
  • I wonder what the actual failure rate of PS4's currently is?

Less than 1% worldwide, XBOX one is turning out to be as unreliable as the 360.
  • Not bad stats, if true.

Where is the proof for this? I've heard of far more PS4 problems so far and relatively few xbox one issues, other than a noisy drive. Didn't hear much about Xbox's arriving dead on arrival or with the major HDMI fault like PS4.

The initial 360 didn't have proper cooling, where as the xbox one has very large fan and plenty of vents so there is no comparison whatsoever.

Oh and PS Network is much less reliable - down again recently.

In bold - if you're asking for proof of another forum member you gotta provide it yourself!

It was down for planned maintenance BTW.
