DD1 is a bookworm. I'd like to buy her a book or two for Christmas and would like ideas please. She has read and greatly enjoyed:
Robert Muchamore's Cherub Series
Mortal Instruments series by Cassandra Clare
Heist Society
Twilight series
Hunger Games trilogy.
She's read a lot of Malorie Blackman and Sophie McKenzie, neither of whom have quite the same appeal, ie she doesn't finish one/day and can put them down.
Harry Potter remains her all time favourite.

Lani Taylor .....there are two books in a trilogy released already, (its on Cassandra Clare recommendations) 'the daughter of smoke and bone' is the first one. This is young persons literature at its best IMO, beautiful, my husband read it And loved it too, its just beautifully written. Also, a book of short stories, 'lips touch' I just read this week.....all three beautifully written.
The mortal instruments has a prequil trilogy, the infernal Devices. Harder to get into, but the end of the trilogy is worth it all. (Written to be read afterthought mortal instruments)
I am passionate about literature for young people, there is a lot of tosh about, but some real treasures. From here reading list i think she'd like these.0 -
My 13yo is a boy but has she tried the books by Rick Riordan eg The Percy Jackson series, The Kane Chronicles etc.
Lemony Snicket?
Would she enjoy any of the classics like Little Women, What Katy Did etc?0 -

Thanks for your input. No joy with Percy Jackson or Lemony Snicket (though DH read this aloud with DD2 a couple of years ago; they thought it was hilarious.)
Yes, she loves classics, Little Women is right up there with Harry Potter.
LOR - will look those up thank you.0 -
I have a bookworm daughter the same age and that likes the same type of books so will be keeping an eye on this too! What about the beautiful creatures set of books? Or Lauren Kate and Alyson Noel both have teenager series that have been read and enjoyed. My daughter has tried some of the Kathy Reichs and Harlen Coben set of books (they both have written books for teenagers as well as adults) and enjoyed them if your daughter likes mystery type books too.0

If she likes the classics then I am more positive about the infernal devices because its written in a modern style but references writing style of American classics.0 -
Anything by Robert Swindell, Robert Westsall and Robert Cormier .
The first two are British, while Cormier is American.
Janni Howker, The Nature of the Beast is her best.
John Christopher, Empty World is his best.
In fact, anything under the Puffin Plus mark.Member #14 of SKI-ers club
Words, words, they're all we have to go by!.
