Not normally due to double locking.

I have Tesco Sim Only deal and it works as good as my o2 one did.
According to posts in the Tesco Moto G thread they are easy to unlock.0 -
Yes, very easy to unlock (you simply give the IMEI number to the unlocking company and receive an unlock code by email. Insert the SIM you wish to use and the phone will prompt you for the code, input it and voila, one unlocked Moto G. Codes from as little as £2 on ebay (my code arrived within minutes).0

I would stay away from giffgaff if you want reliability. No problems with coverage, exactly the same as O2 however in the year I was stupid enough to go with them their network went down at least three times for many hours at a time. On joining them my number 'port in' got stuck, quite common with giffgaff, and I was without a phone for a week.
Customer service is terrible, internet only based and you end up waiting up to 24hrs for a cut-n-paste reply along the lines of 'have you tried switching it off and on again'
The community help forum is useless as well. People get 'Kudos' points or something if they help other members so if you ask a question you get loads of worthless repetitive responses that will drive you crazy0 -
I gave GiffGaff a chance about 3 years ago but it didn't last very long. Been with Tesco ever since, as has my family of 4.0
-
Was with Tesco for years, very good but needed more data.
Now with giffgaff. No problems so far.0 -
It makes me laugh, the number of complains here for voda, orange, EE etc, giffgaff have a couple if outages and it's don't touch them with a barge pole, even though a couple of the outages were over the entire o2 network,
My entire family have been with giffgaff for a few years now, with very few problems, certainly not enough to put us off. On the whole they're cheap, reliable and do what they say on the tin.Accept your past without regret, handle your present with confidence and face your future without fear0 -
giffgaff make it quite clear that their support is web-based only. If you really need someone on the end of the phone then you wouldn't choose them.
I used the agent support due to a porting issue and found it very effective; the issue was resolved within 24 hours. No free lunch, and no free laptop0 -

In the twenty or so years I've had a mobile I've been through pretty much all of the main players and can't recall ever having the network go down. In fact, the prospect of such a thing didn't even enter my mind. Online customer service is fine, when they actually answer but giffgaff obviously can't cope with the amount of customers contacting them when there's a problem and they're not quick to admit there is.
In the year or so I was with giffgaff it went down about four or five times for hours at a time. One outage was caused by O2 and it made national news. Giffgaff are plauged with either full outages or limited outages sometimes affecting not all but either voice/sms/internet. One outage for a whole day was caused by a water leak in their server room!
They are competitively priced, or at least were. I would rather pay more for a reliable service than get an unreliable one on the cheap.0 -

Bit of a contradiction there?
And there have been several outages in the last 2 years that have been down to and effected the entire o2 network, completely beyond the control of giffgaff, but hey ho,Accept your past without regret, handle your present with confidence and face your future without fear0 -
If you're going to quote someone you shouldn't really edit it to suit!
I don't really see how I'm contradicting myself? I've acknowledged that one of the four or five outages I experienced in my time with giffgaff was at the hands of O2. However, that was only one of them and it was such an unheard of occurrence that it made national news.
Their handling of my stuck port took over 7 days to sort. I was one of about 40 people who lost their phone number for over a week which giffgaff attempted to blame on our previous providers until there were too many of us with the same issue complaining on their boards. Their attitude and customer service was terrible.
Look, if you're happy with giffgaff that's great. Personally I need my phone to work and was just advising others of my experience.
Next time you're left high and dry, or can't reach a loved one, you can at least feel all warm and toasty inside knowing you've saved a few pounds.
As giffgaff would say, "Champion!"0
