Has anyone else notices the price reduction on the 2 seater?

I cant help but think that i could have had it at the new price of £149 and then just £25 for extra warranty making a total of just £174. Instead i paid £179 and have yet to pay the £35 (as price falls into next category so not £25) making a total of £214.

So could have saved £40. Do you think its possible to get the price refunded or something (not sure who it is think it might be amazon who refund if price drops) i know i may be being a bit ungrateful but at the end of the day £40 is £40. What do you think?

argos will not offer price matching or a refund under these circumstances. you thought it was a good price at the time, and happily handed over your cash. these things happen in life.

incidently, if you had hung on for further price drops chances are you wouldnt have got a sofa at all, as stock is now very, very limited and i know ive sent a lot of disappointed customers away because they havent been able to get their hands on this bargain.

I agree, it was a good price and i paid my money and got my sofas. I also agree that had i hung on for any lower price drops i may not have got my sofas and im grateful that i got the bargain that i did.

My reason for asking what i did about price matching was only because i have seen on here somewhere that there is a company (as i think i said before im not sure which it is) who does give a refund difference of an item that drops in price, if purchased within the last x amount of days from them. If i hadnt seen that on here then i would have just accepted things as they are and left it at that, but thats what this sites about, moneysaving and getting the same things for less, so has to be worth a try.

I take it from your above comments that you work for Argos, if so may i ask in which department? Instore or tel. customer service and also how long you have worked there for? Im not being nosey, although it may seem so, im asking for a genuine reason. Thankyou

i work in store and have done for several years, but the nature of my role in the company means i have better knowledge than most of the 'wonders' of argos direct :D

The reason i was asking is not questioning what you have said as if thats what you have been told then fair does, but i thought perhaps you were new to Argos and maybe didnt know the policy.

I have to say though i phoned them earlier and have details of when and whom i spoke to (learnt my lesson on that one from Kays) and have been told that i will be refunded the price difference of £30 (you have to allow 30 days from purchase). Also he is making a note on the system so that when i go instore to pay for the extra guarantee on them i only have to pay £25 instead of £35 for the 2 seater. Im quite pleased that i phoned and mentioned it because my great bargain is an even better one now. :T

Hi Jaxxy00 - it was DFS that offered the difference - I remember reading about it on here the other day.

I personally would write them a friendly letter saying how happy you are with the sofa, delivery, wonderful customer service etc etc but were a little disappointed to discover the price reduction happened so soon after your purchase and wondered if they followed DFS's policy of refunding the difference.

Even though you know they don't follow this policy you might get some generous soul at Argos HQ who could send you a gift card or something. If not then you only lose the price of a stamp.

I ordered the regular Farley sofa at 6pm tonight, (following recommendations on here ) expecting it to be delivered in 3 or 4 weeks as the website said, but then got a phone call at 7.30pm saying would I like it this Friday or Saturday!

Which normally would be great, but I'm having an extension built (this sofa is going in it eventually!) and therefore at the mo I haven't got anywhere for it to go! My existing house is filled with bathroom suites and new beds and no more room at the inn!

Had to plead with my brother who lives over the road to store it in his kitchen until I at least get some flooring down!

Can't see this sofa in the catalogue though, (unless I'm daft!) so presume it may be old stock? Not that it makes a difference.

But it was just too good an offer to miss out on, so thanks for posting about it!

you can trust me when i say that what youve received is the exception to the rule and most definately not 'policy' ;) but congrats on your consumer savvyness, i'd say that you've handled that very well... and its nice to hear something positive from a customer about argos direct for once :D

Good on ya Jaxxy00 - I am typing too slow tonight else I'd have seen your post!

Always worth a shot at asking - the worst is a 'No' eh?! ;)
