IMHO, a building site would be better than PC World. However, whenever I'm pricing up stuff, I always include them. It's good for laugh and nice to know how much you are saving.
For an instant performance boost, if not for speed, but being able to run newer, bigger programs and being able to have more open at one time and flit between them, adding RAM is the easiest method.
Fair enough, I never knew that, but I know very little
PC World don't sound too great then, i'll compare them with the suggested sites and see what happens
It will be basically for going from 1 program to another and have recently installed XP and some new programs that weren't able to run on my Millenium Edition OS, but have yet to upgrade the ram.
Thanks for the help.0 -
I try and run Explorer/Windows Media and sometimes I may try ad-aware or something and the whole thing goes so slow.
If you ever run a scan with ad-aware only have that running as it wont perform a proper scan as it needs to read fles that are being used by other programs and do it with system restore off then run a scan then enable restore again.0 -

Blimey, PC World want £21 a stick and that's there cheapie option!
I think I could wait a week for it to arrive considering i've been limping along for 6 years with 64-192mb
That's definitely the sticks I need? Ebuyer reliable? Never used them before0 -

I didn't know that, thanks for the info.
I shall make sure I let it run without anything else running in the future.

I've used Ebuyer about 10 times without a problem - always reliable.0

Excellent, will give them a try, thanks.0 -
Just use their utility in order to get the part number; http://support.packardbell.com/uk/memoryconfigurator/
Are you sure 512MB is the maximum?0 -

It says so on the specifications, and it appears to be fixed to the computer apparently as opposed to it being a spec before more memory became available to use on a PC - it was purchased in July 2001.

I won't be buying from Packard Bell though! They want £57.99 for 256mb!!! :eek:0

Something I meant to ask:
How do I turn system restore on and off?
Thanks :T0
