Yes, it does seem VERY odd to have such tiny print on their own site promoting a date like it's going to be some big event and then finding out this is all it is - promoted only on their own site. Of course it might be, as Soolin mentioned before, 24 hours that last a very, very long time. I certainly had no idea that's what it was about and only knew about it because there was an email newsletter mentioning to mark the date in the diary. I was kind of expecting a big announcement and feel rather deflated. However, I'll now need to go and see what they're saying about it in the forums over there! I'm suck a nosy so-and-so. :) Maybe there's a TV or radio advert going out or maybe this is just a test/mock promotion to find out how many people read the newsletters? Time will tell.

When i last checked mid morning there were only about 4 posts about it, but then the forums are nowhere near as lively as they used to be so that is about right.

BTW I am trying to tart up my shops, is there an idiot guide to finding a suitably sized logo, mine looks awful compared to some of the others.

I clicked the £14.99 link and was then offered the lifetime seller+ deal for just £4.02 so i signed up and downloaded the Ninja Lister. Now all i need to do is work out how to use it. Apparently it is possible to import listings from Ebay, if anyone knows how to do this i would appreciate some help.

    Thanks

Soolin, I think it's a 120 x 90 graphic for the store front, I just do mine in photoshop or similar then upload them to my store. Try to make it as clear as possible so it attracts attention in the 'stores' directories. My avatar needs renewing, as that's what gets shown in the top sellers' list if you make a few sales. The bookshop one makes it in quite often but my personal effort is seldom worth a mention. MUST improve on this, just need a kick start.

Managed to get a couple of buddy link sign-ups during the offer by posting the news on my own blog but it doesn't look like many others took advantage of the opportunity - 3 sign ups put me at no.1 position in the buddy points table. However, I'm not sure what the buddy points table is actually for, so no point me celebrating that achievement. :rotfl:I'll maybe list a few more items and take another stab at earning my fortune via eBid. :o Off to hatch more plans. Cheap, cheap! :rotfl:

Ok, looks like I may have to set some time aside to fiddle about more with my shops, one more question, how can i view my own shop front?

Do Ebid still send an email when someone bids on your item? I've set up shops and have listed loads of new things but keep checking and it is driving me to distraction. I know when I sold my one and only thing a year or so ago that I got an email to say I had a bid and wondered if that is still the case. Then I wouldn't have to keep checking.

Soolin, you should be able to go into your settings on eBid and check that they're set to email you all the updates. I also checked the logos and it's 310 x 90 for the store logo and you can link to an external address for the 'About me' avatar. I've updated mine so it shows the store name in the unlikely event that I sell several items and make it onto the top sellers' list. Was nice being top of the buddy points league table last week but it didn't make me any sales.

As far as the £14.99 promotion went, they've sent out the latest newsletter, so I'll copy the relevant parts into another post here in case anyone isn't receiving it - seems the promotion was to launch their 'Ninja' bulk upload software. Hmm... this household is obviously a bit non-techno-savvie as we couldn't fathom it out at all!

My personal suspicion is that the objective of the 'small print' promo was to establish how many members actually receive and read the newsletters and/or enter the site via the main www.ebid.net page. Following on from that, I would now expect a follow-up promotion elsewhere. Putting myself in their shoes, it seems like a logical thing to do - test the coverage of whatever advertising avenues they have open to them. It can't help knowing that there's chit chat about eBay having the ability to play their world trademark card for online auctions! What a ridiculous thought that is but sadly, it's not impossible.

I've sold a few items on Ebid over the Bank Holiday weekend. I guess more people are idly browsing round the net at around this time. Now I only have to dread the packaging experience... I hate packing.

I think you are the only one then as the forums are getting quite unhappy about lack of sales.

I have logged in several times a day but merely to remove auctions where my stock is running out due to high sales on ebay.

I will keep trying as otherwise it has proved a costly mistake and as I have shops i might as well just let the stuff sit there in case. In all honestly though although I use it daily I would not recommend the site to anyone else as it is far too expensive in terms of time.

Bad luck. I'm quite happy to have had a few sales over the past few days. Though obviously I don't do as well as the master marketers and grafters who really put their backs into it. Don't have the time or interest, really.

That's why ebay is cheaper in the long run. I list and I sell. I am working several times harder on ebid, and not making any money at all. I've just listed some more items though. see if I can't trigger a sale.
