    Thanks beanie :)

So have spent the day going to the dump and trying to organise my shelves for the new study books ... I have emptied three shelves but have no where to put the books ... I'm really loathed to cull the books anymore as I feel I've culled more than enough already ... Must've easily got rid of a few hundred ... I don't want to buy another bookcase and I don't want to put them in boxes either as they will probably never see the light of day again until I come across them and decide to get rid of them but they will smell all foosty so won't be able to get any money from them

    Arggghhhh so annoying

Another part of my tooth came away today as well so no doubt when I go to the dentist on Thursday I will have a fairly large bill :(

Right back to the books and head scratching

I've just remembered that I have a full bookcase of photographs ... Wonder where I can keep them so that they don't get damp ... That would give me three shelves

Ok I still have two full boxes of books still to deal with ( which is what the photos were in originally)

I can see me having to buy more bookcases ... Sigh

:( Sorry about the job chaos Elantan, what a pain!

Sounds like you're making excellent progress on all other fronts though, how soon will your fires be in and functional?

Just a thought, could you scan your photos into the computer and back up on hard drive and then store your photos in the loft (if it's not damp). That way at least if the original photos do get damaged, you'll still have electronic copies? Might take some time but could be just the task for a quiet night in by the fireside!

:) Good luck with the application, hope you hear something soon!

Get an ammo can - depending on the size of your books, you may need something the size of a mortar round container. Check and make sure the seal is good (there should be a beaded rubber seal around the inside of the lid - don't buy if it's not there). Put your books in, as tightly as possible, toss some silica gel and some oxygen absorber in, then seal the lid.

You will probably need a hammer to open it again, as oxygen is 21% of the atmosphere. Also, fill them in situ as they will have the mass of a small planet and will be just about immovable.

Again, ammo cans and oxygen scavengers. They were made by the military to store things for a long time in a "no expense spared" kind of way.

    That I know what exactly?
    1. Ammo boxes are air tight?
    2. Sealed metal boxes 'sweat' when exposed to temperature variation unless you dehumidify them?
    3. Removing the oxygen wipes out any insects/eggs you may have sealed up as well - before they eat your stuff.
    4. Ammo boxes are made for the military?

    Is any of that worrying?

It's the air of confidence that disturbs me I think :rotfl:.
